Checking myself in the mirror, I gulp and adjust the collar of my jerkin. One final look through and I pat my pants pocket reassuringly, grab my keys and then on my way to Kathryn's apartment.

Nervous jitters run through me as I drive. I check my rear view mirror and think maybe I should have shaved my stubble. I turn onto her street and a take deep breath before I park.
Knocking on her door my heart pounds and nearly stops as she opens the door.

Kathryn is stunning. In her deep blue renaissance gown she is radiant, the blue makes her makes her pale skin glow, her green eyes pop and her dark chocolate hair shines in it's long cascading curls.

"Hi" Kate says with a large smile and wriggles her eyebrows.

"Good 'morrow milady, thou art as radiant as the sun!" I say and smile at my beautiful girlfriend. She flashes her smile back at me as I take her hand and lead her to the car. I hold her door open and she gets in and everything is just so familiar and right. Having her sit beside me, holding my hand and tracing small circles on my palm it was just perfect.

"I can't believe we're going to the renfaire!" Kate says as she bounced up and down in her seat. "Well you better believe it because we sure ain't goin' to Mordor. Or Narnia. Or the Enchanted Forrest. Or..."
"Meet rodents of unusual size," Kate supplied with a cheeky grin.
"Exactly!" I excitedly shout earning the magical sound of Kate's laugh.

It took us about an hour to get to the renfaire and the whole scene was picturesque. Lords and ladies roaming the grounds and castles and cobblestone paths just put it over the top and really reminded time back to the renaissance era.

Holding hands we make our way to The Queen's Stage for the duel between Sir Walter Raliegh and Sir Raymond. We take our seats near the front and wait for the show to start. While we wait Kate leans over and whispers "Aaron this is just amazing this whole place, I'm having such a great day. Thank you so much for taking me here."

"Anything for thee my lady love."

"I love you too Aaron."

The duel began and swords clashed with loud clangs and my heart started beating wildly in my chest as my nerves grew. Then with a burst of adrenaline, I stood up and ran to the side of the stage, grabbed a sword from one of the workers and ran up the steps of the stage to join the duel. Just as we rehearsed I "expertly" battled the other swordsmen and disarmed both. Panting and sweaty I called in a loud voice "Lady Kathryn Briar will thou join me on stage?"

Slowly Kate walked up to the stage utterly shocked and confused with a hand over her mouth. When she finally got to me I took her hands in mine and started my thoroughly rehearsed speech:
"Kathryn from the moment I met you I knew that you would be a large part of my life. From our romantic dates of fancy diners and soft candlelight, to our long winded conversations about The Lord of the Rings, Percy Jackson and Sherlock. I always, always love spending time with you. You are the sun that brightens my rainy day, when I need an uplifting word your always there. Ohyour heart, I love that heart of yours so loving, selfless and true. I love you and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you. "

I bend down on one knee pulling out the ring box with the hand picked saphire ring and I hear gasps from the crowd but I can only see Kate with her watery eyes and hands covering her mouth.

"Kathryn Elizabeth Briar will you marry me?"

The air is static and the silence is deafening for a moment before a hear a joyful and breathy:

"Yes, yes a thousand times yes. To the moon and back forever yes."
