Dropping out at the start of junior year of college might not have been the smartest choice but I'm doing what makes me happy. I'm moving to London; the city I have always longed for all my life. I wasn't making any friends at college, I only had my best friend Madison, whom I've known since freshman year of high school. I also had my friend Amanda who I met freshman year of college thanks to Mads. Although I had them with me throughout these years, I still felt alone. I was barely passing my classes, I'd miss so many days because I just couldn't for the life of me get out of bed. I wanted to so badly but something in me held me back. This had become an ongoing cycle and I finally decided that college is not for me."I really think you should stay! What're two more years?" Madison whines, helping me put my luggage into the trunk of her black Toyota Camry. I playfully roll my eyes at her and smile. I'm really going to miss her. She closed the trunk and we both walk towards the front of the car to get inside. I toss my carry on bag to the back and put my seatbelt on. "My eyes are already getting watery! What am I going to do without you!?" Mads exclaims, smashing her hands onto the steering wheel, looking at me. "You'll be fine, we'll talk every day and you can come to visit anytime! Plus you have Amanda and Dylan," I say, turning the AC on, it was the middle of June. Dylan is her boyfriend, they had met in some art class. "Okay? You're my best friend," Madison says, putting a strand of her curly hair behind her ear. "Okay don't look at me like that, now you're going to make me cry," I whine, looking away and looking out to the window. We were currently parked in front of my apartment building. "Let's just go pick up Amanda," I say, Madison quickly driving off.
Amanda wanted to tag along to send me off to the airport. We are all going to be an emotional mess, I just know it. Yesterday, I spent the whole day with my mother and older sister, who both absolutely hate that I'm leaving. By the end of the night, neither of us could stop the tears from flooding. It was bittersweet. When I first proposed the idea to my mom, she instantly said no, she said that I need to focus on my education. I tried focusing, I just couldn't actually focus. As much as I wanted to, it never happened.
"Oh my gosh!" Madison screams, startling me. "This song," she says, pressing a song from her Spotify playlist. Misery by Maroon 5 starts blaring in the car. We immediately start singing at the top of our lungs and dancing in our seats. After the song was over, she decided to have a maroon 5 marathon until we got to the dorms, where Amanda lives. I text the group-chat, letting Amanda know we're outside and after two minutes, she came running towards the car. "Let's go!" She exclaims, entering the car and putting her seatbelt on.
The whole car ride consisted of us singing and dancing, Amanda asking if we're there yet, and Madison almost breaking down in tears because I'm leaving. If I had it my way, these girls would be getting on that flight with me. We finally arrive at the airport and we all get out of the car. I grab my carry on from the backseat and sling it over my shoulder. As I get to the trunk of the car, Madison is already putting my luggage down on the concrete floor. She immediately shuts the trunk and looks at me. We both smile at each other and embrace each other with a tight hug. We start bawling and the hug feels almost like an eternity. Now it was Amanda's turn who was also crying. As soon as we pulled away, I wipe my tears, grabbing onto the handle of my luggage. "This is it," I say, looking at them.
"Bye Chels, I love you," Amanda says, waving.
I smile, looking over at Madison, who's now full-on bawling, she can't even speak. "I'll miss you and I love you!"
I sigh, walking closer towards the entrance of the airport. "I'll miss you so much," I say, looking back at them and they smile. "I love you, girls!" I exclaim, now fully walking into the airport, not looking back. For a small moment, I wanted to get back into Mads' car and go home but I snapped out of it, I'm going to London! Honestly, everything worked out so perfect. If it wasn't for Tom who came here from London, this wouldn't be happening. I owe it all to that man. He helped me get a waitressing job and helped me find a roommate, who he happens to be good friends with; her name is Olivia and we've been texting back and forth. She lives in a three-bedroom apartment in Brentford, London.
At the airport! I board in two hours :)
I texted Olivia to keep her updated. She is the same age as me, nineteen, and is an incredibly amazing dancer. She is enrolled at some kind of dance school and works as a waitress part-time. Also, her parents are rich and helps her with rent from time to time. She doesn't like that they tend to intervene all the time, she wants to be independent and not rely on her parents for everything. I totally get it. She is gorgeous as well, long blonde hair, porcelain skin, and hazel eyes. I can't wait to finally meet her after so many texts and calls.
Great! Have a safe flight hun Xx
After busting my ass for a full year trying to save up, actually dropping out, Tom pulling strings for me, convincing my mom to let me go, I can finally say I'm going to London. I'm actually making the move, there's no turning back now.
