Moonless Card

My deck of cards has fallen
Fallen onto the dirty floor
Drenched in blood, it's calling
Calling to be released from memories
Each card is burned
Unrecognizable as I watch
Until only one remains
The one, to this day, that captured my heart
All those late nights
Sneaking through my bedroom pane
Following like a lost puppy
These memories will never ease the pain
Until I saw you again
Watching from afar
Stealing kisses from my face
Like a kid to a cookie jar
You are a black shadow
Evading the police and the law
Creeping though the hallways
The rooms, the parlor, and the bar
When one day they caught you
Placed you behind some bars
Smacked and beat you up
While all I could do was watch
We were from different worlds
You and I; I and You
I looked out your window once
While you smiled through mine
As I saw you up on that pedastal
The axe above your head
The war raging on below
Loved ones dieing in your stead
As that man took your life
Your smile never drifted
Smiling like an idiot
I shivered and I cursed you
I cursed you for making me care
I cursed myself for you were the bait
And as I watch the card burn up
I whisper, "The Ace of Spades"
