Folding the last t-shirt and placing it in the suitcase with the rest of my cloths, looking over at my phone it was a text from my grandmother.

Text from Grandma: Hey sweetie before you come over can you pickup some items for me?

Text to Grandma: Sure no problem what would you like me to pickup?

Setting my phone back down on the night stand I resumed folding my cloths from the hamper to my suit case. Looking at the suit case I started counting all the t-shirts, pants, socks, underwear, and sleep ware. This should be enough I hope I'm only going to be there for month, pulling the cover over the suit case I zipped it up and place it by my room door.

*Ding *Ding

Unplugging my phone from the charger and turning it on it was not a text from my grandmother but from the local news of my town.

Local News Alter: Please be advise the GoldBurg Killer is still at large, all residents please be back in the safety of your homes by 7:00 pm. For more information about the GoldBurg Killer and how to help yourself please visit our website.

Hmm that guy is still out there, good thing I'll be out of town and miles from the GoldBurg Killer even thought he could possibly travel to Black Creek where I'm heading to. Shaking the thought of him traveling where I'm going is just ludicrous crazy idea. Slipping my phone in my jeans pocket I finished up packing the rest of my belongs that I will be taking with me to my grandparents house for the month.

"Hey Augustus"

Tuning around it's my roommate Alaric standing in the door way grinning from eat to ear at me while holding a brown sack. Raising my eyebrow at him. "Uhm what's that Alaric?" I questioned him. His blue eyes turned from me to the small brown sack "Oh this little its nothing" he smiled again at me. "Just wanted to tell you I hope you have fun up at your grandparents house in Black Creek"

Nodding my head slightly at him giving him little smile "Thanks Alaric, Don't have to much fun while I'm gone" with that Alaric took off and closed my door behind him. That was little weird if you ask me but then again Alaric is weird he goes through roommates like candy, I'v been his roommate longer than any of his previous ones. I don't know he's a loner but super attractive he's about 6 foot, lean built defiantly could lift someone with one hand if he tried, short brown hair, blue eyes.

Throwing my backpack around me adjusting the strips, grabbing my suit case by the handle heading out of my room into the hall way closing my door behind me. Alaric's door flies open quickly widening my eyes "Hey Augustus" he smiles energetically. "I wanted to give you this before you go" he quickly shoved a rolled up parchment to my chest; looking down at it I grabbed it from him. Opening the rolled up parchment revealing a red painting of mountains and tress with moonlight sky. Rubbing my chin and looking at him giving him a little chuckle.

"what you think of it" he asked curiously.

Rolling the painting back up I gave him a smile and pat on the shoulder "It's beautiful I'll have to frame it when I'm at my grandparents house" I told him.

Coming out of my apartment building a blast of cold air came through, letting out shiver its getting colder and colder as we head deeper into part of winter. It's even colder in Black Creek because the town is higher up in the mountains and my grandparents live deep in the mountains so it colder and snows much more there then here in GoldBurg where I live. Unlocking the trunk to my Chevy Sonic placing my suit case and backpack next to each other while shuffling around few items to make room. Closing the truck, making my way to the drivers side opening the door and hoping in I started the car. Realizing my grandma has not text me what she wanted me to get her, pulling out my phone I quickly dialed her number to call her.

*Ring *Ring *Ring

"Hello?"

"Hey Grandma you never texted me was you wanted from the store."

"Oh shoot sorry sweetie never mind your grandpa went to the small grocery store, so just never mind that and come up here when ever."

"Alright Grandma I'll see you guys in about 15-20 minutes."

Pulling out of the parking lot I made my way down the road onto (Interstate)I-90.

Finally reaching the small town of Black Creek, population roughly between 10,000-15,000 people give or take. During the summers Black Creek is vibrant with green grass, clear blue skies, everyone out and running around town the smell of fried fish fills the air. This time it's the dead of winter and that vibrant green grass is withered dead of grey and deep dark green colors covered in blanket of snow, the skies are dark and grey always raining down snow continuously. Black ice covers the roads most of the time but, the police of Black Creek tries to keep the roads melted with ice melt as much as possible.

Reaching the exit that will take me up into the mountains, the roads from here on out are the worse they never get ice melt or plowed at all. Most of Black Creek crashes happen around here because of the roads.

Coming up into the mountains the scenery changes drastically from what black Creek looks like. Huge Ponderosa pine trees span far and wide, dense bushes and shrubs cover most of the land up here, usually the ground is greens, browns, and dark browns. But in this case it's nothing but solid white snow.

10 to 15 minutes pass and I reach my grandparents house their house is medium size, lower half of the house is made of stone while the upper half is dark wood tone, In the front of the house there is drive way to their 2 door garage, small porch to the front door. Parking my car in front of the garage I hope out and pop open the trunk, grabbing my belonging I made my way to the front door which was already open and my grandparents were waiting for me at the door step with their husky (Buddy)Patting my thighs Buddy came running at me full speed. Dropping to one knee Buddy jump with his 2 back legs tackling me with sloppy kisses. "Ohhh who's a good boy!! You are yes you are! Saying child like.

After Buddy finish his loving I walked over to give my grandparents  hugs.

"Hey Grandma, hey Grandpa how are you guys?"

"We good sweetie, how are you?" my grandma asked.

Walking into the house I replied back "I'm doing good" they both smiled at me. My grandparents house is medium size with 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, comes with a full basement, medium back porch that over sees the land little bit, small attic, and of course they have living room, dining room, kitchen. Their house is not decorated like 70's or 80's more like 2000ish but they do still have old style furniture like the iconic floral furniture.

"Will you be staying in the basement like always" my grandma question me. Shaking my head no at her "No, I think I'll stay in the side bedroom" "Either way it won't matter you will have the whole house to yourself" my Grandpa added. Nodding my head at the both of them "Alight I'm gonna go put my stuff away and I'll be right back."

Heading back to the front of the house I took a right that lead to the room I'll be sleeping in. Opening the door I'm already hit with the sent of gain meaning fresh sheets and vacuums floor, my grandmother has always been a neat freak so its not a surprise to me. The walls are a dark blue shade with white trimming, the bed is mixture of blues and whits, 2 night stands, white rug under the bed, different Artis paintings that complemented the room. Setting my backpack down along with my suit case.

"Augustus sweetie come sit at the dinner table real quick" my grandmother yelled from the other room. "Coming" I yell back. Making my way out of the bed room into the living room Buddy was laying on the couch playing with his toy so cute I told my self. Coming into the kitchen both my grandparents were sitting down with piece of paper and pen. "Okay Augustus we need to go over few things before leave, safety things, neighbors, emergency numbers ect alright" they both said. Pulling out a chair I sat down across from them.

"First let's talk about the GoldBurg Killer" my grandma said.
