The $.99 cent plus grocery mart was about 3 blocks away. Daddy always took the long way there so we could sight see. Living in Yonkers,Ny you can walk downstairs and there's a bodega (WHICH WE HAD) under our building but he loved to drive to other stores just for the fun of it. Today seemed different though, kinda like he had something on his mind. We normally would talk but he was quiet today "Ding ding", a text came through.
"Wya? You takin 2 long bae? I need to start cooking hurry up BOY! Love you lol 😂❤️".
It was mom rushing dad like usual, "That's all she said?" He said kinda low, "yup, and she called you a boy dad!" We chuckled. "I'm always a boy until I get home and....."DAD EW CMON MAN DANG!" I interrupted ABRUPTLY, as we turned the corner where the store was we saw cop cars in front of the store just sitting there. Dad always says don't stare and don't look nervous when we get in here , it will make them think your stealing. "Ok, I won't" I said nervously, "let's go". So we locked the door and I followed.
