I sat at the front of my class listening to the lecture given by the English teacher about Shakespeare and his life. Pieces of paper was thrown as usual at me saying messages like "you are worthless" or "go kill yourself". I get over the messages as they are a common thing to me.
As I left class and girl approached me. My first thoughts was the common bullying so I ignored her. Something seemed strange though I began to notice the presence of here around me more and more. I began to become worried of what this meant so I choose to try and get away from her. This only made matters worse. Then a week later I was caught this time. She had me cornered and demanded for my name. I had never had this question asked before. My heart raced in horror and fear as I decided to say my name thinking on what was there to lose as my life was bleak anyway. I closed my eyes and whispered my name. There was a long silence before I opened my eyes surprised to see her still stood there. I asked if she heard but got no response... Slowly she handed me a note and asked me to read it to her. I feared the worst of not being something to tell me to vanish for good. Slowly I opened the note with my hands trembling. I began to read "I'm here to help you, I don't care if you can't hear and don't want to hear. I just want you to be accepted into society and life. I won't leave until you accept my help." I stared at the note in shock and confusion. Never in my life has this been offered to me. I looked into her eyes in search of a possible response...
I now take you to the present day... Ever since I met her life has changed. I now have many friends and of course I still have enemy's but I can push them aside. I don't regret my difference anymore, society accepts me now. My life is full of hopes and dreams. My message to those who have a disability is to accept help when it is offered and to make people see who you truly are...
