Somewhere between LONDON and BIRMINGHAM

Alex had no idea what had happened, he just knew his best friend had gone missing and was taken by her secret agent mother, along with her sister, who used to date his best friend and... He didn't even understand his own life anymore. Less than two weeks ago, he was a perfectly normal teenage boy, then, everything fell apart...

"Hello, are you there?" He was rip off his thoughts by Spencer's hand waving in front of his face. His friend had probably been talking for ages and he hadn't picked up a word.. oh, well, too bad, he thought. "Man, are you even listening? I'm talking about your girlfrind, you know?"

"That's pretty impossible, you know, since I don't have a girlfriend."

"Whatever. I was talking about Jane and Carly and how are we gonna find them."

"What I don't understand is what are you doing here," Ellie interrupted.

"Take it easy Ellie. If he said he didn't cheated on Janey is because he didn't, I guess. And, besides, Carly trusts Alex who trusts Spencer, so if I trust Carly, which I do, and if Alex believes him, I guess we have to believe him too," Cath concluded.

"Well", Spencer commented, "I didn't understand a thing, really, but thanks for believing."

"Either way, what are we gonna do when we find them?" Annabel, who had joined them in the mean time, asked, eager for some action. Sometimes, Alex thought, the girl was really creepy...

BIRMINGHAM

In the end, they ended up with no plan, and only an old map to help them finding their around an unknown town. They managed alright, though, that is, it took them only 4 hours to find one of the main streets in the city.

A few blocks away, Spencer saw a flash of bright ginger hair pass on the other side of a window. He knew right there it was Jane, he would recognize her soft locks any time. She must have noticed them, because she turned around... And his heart skiped a beat, her lip was swollen and a purple mark in her cheek was faintly covered by concealer.

She called someone over her shoulder and Carly appeared there. She was a bit better than her sister but the bruises in her face still looked pretty nasty.

Spencer noticed Alex flinch at the sight of his bestfriend. Less than a heartbeat later, the both of them, Spencer being paralyzed by the horrifying sight, sprinted towards the house and Spencer only had time to see Carly open the door and run to Alex's arms. Spencer, however, stopped abruptly as he saw Jane's beautiful green eyes full of tears, falling slowly onto her cheeks.

His heart broke, even more, if possible, as he remembered he was to blaim for that...

He was the one who broke her heart... He wasn't exactly guilty, but now Spencer saw what everyone had been trying to tell him for weeks now: he was the one who gave the other girl hope, even if by mistake, and he should have had the guts to tell Jane as soon as he found out the truth.

He didn't know where the idea had come from but he started walking slowly towards her. She glared at him, as though saying don't you dare talking to me, bastard, much less touch me. The look on her face hurt him, but not enough to make him stop.

He was one foot away from her when he stopped. Spencer brought his hand up and softly wiped her tears away from her cheeks.

" Jane, I..." He begun, trailing off.

"Just tell me something, Spencer, just one thing." She asked.

"Anything," he promised.

"What you told Alex, and what you told me the night we fought, was it true?"

"What are you talking about, Janey? I don't really remember everything I said that night?" He replied confused.

"Do you love me?" She asked, so softly he barely heard her.

He didn't even think about. He cupped her face with his hands and poured his soul, his love and all his feelings for her. Jane was taken back at first but she kissed him back, the tears started falling again as she understood the perfect answer to her question.

They pulled away, both aware of all the other's eyes on them.

"She kinda framed me, I would never cheat on you sweetie, never," he said.

"Carly believed you and so did Alex."

"I don't care if they believe me or not. Do YOU believe me?"

"Yes, dummy, I thought that had already been cleared up," she laughed softy.

They heard someone clear their, and turned around to see all their friends smiling brightly at them. Alex was the one who spoke, though. "I hate to spoil the fluffy moment but should we go or what?"

"If you hate to spoil it, why did you did it?" Carly, clearly annoyed, asked.

"Oh, shut up," the boy replied.

"You shut up!" Carly commanded.

"SHUT UP BOTH OF YOU, Christ..." Annie shouted, shutting everyone up.

Right then, they heard a gun shot and a dozen men came running into the street.
