First Day

I always get butterflies on my first day back, this year was no exception.
I woke up to my alarm blasting out Its My Life, groaning I rolled over throwing my hand about hoping that I would be able to turn off my alarm without really waking up.
"Morning sunshine" drawled a southern accent from my window.
"Shit" I screeched as I sat up in bed hitting my head on my shelf. Wearily I rubbed my eyes and, having put on my glasses, I moved my sleepy gaze over to the window.
"What the hell are you doing here? Get out !" I asked Brendan who was sitting on my windowsill grinning smugly. Hastily I yanked my sheets up around me and my hand flew to my hair patting it down to make me look less like a monster.
"Just thought I'd let you know I'm picking you up in a half hour sweetpea" Brendan drawled back. I opened my mouth to protest but he was out of the window and back in his own house before I could think of a witty reply. Huffing i dragged myself out of bed, what a great start to the new school year I mumbled as I stumbled to the bathroom.

Having eaten breakfast quickly I rushed back upstairs to get dressed and presentable. Thankfully my outfit still looked alright and my hair was even having a good day. Smiling at myself in the mirror I gave myself my final pep-talk and headed out of my room. As I walked downstairs I heard my Dad laughing in the kitchen and as I turned the corner I saw Brendan in my kitchen, chatting to my dad and brother. The sight of him made my breath catch in my throat, he was wearing a simple white t-shirt and faded jeans and had a pair of aviators on. As he saw me enter he took off his aviators and looked me up and down. My irritation instantly grew as I tugged on my dress, feeling uncomfortable under his stare, and he smiled smugly at the effect he had on me.
"For the second time, what the hell are you doing here?" I asked him venomously.
"Adelita-Lee!" Dad exclaimed at my rudeness. Rolling my eyes i looked at Brendan, whose eyes shone with amusement at the use of my full name.
"Apologise to Brendan right now." Dad demanded glaring at me with Brendan looking bashful at his side. I gaped at Dad as Brendan shot me a grin and a quick wink before returning to his bashful innocent look. Huffing I mumbled an apology and farewell and stumbled out of the door. I stomped my way up the drive, getting rid of my frustration. Out of nowhere I felt someone yank my arm, off-balanced I turned around and hit into a set of hard abs. Not again...looking up still slightly flushed from my annoyance and shock at nearly falling over I realised how close my lips were to Brendan's.
"Are you ok?" Asked Brendan, with his eyebrows slightly furrowed as he looked down at me with his dark brown eyes.
'Not everyone loves your presence. Leave me alone.' I grumbled back.
'Well that isn't going to happen sweetpea, I'm new and you are my tour guide.' He smiled back at me smugly.
'Says who?' I swung back around to face him whacking him with my bag. A gasp caught in my throat as I noticed how close he was behind me. Leaning down he whispered in my ear,
'That would be telling sweetpea', he winked and strolled forward leaving me staring at where he had been standing.
'Cat got your tongue?' He called back teasing me.
'Today is going to be a long day' I grumbled to myself sighing as I walked quickly to catch up with Brendan striding in the opposite direction of school.
