Detey ship *hiiii, here's an old story i wrote 4 years ago woww.. But yeah! I rewrote it a little bit, and edited it. From now on, Dog Man is going to be mute in my stories because it just feels more natural and because that's canon. (Will be a nice challenge writing which is goodd) I might sometimes add a speaking collar to him (An idea I got from a friend) where his thoughts are translated to speech.

Families come in all sorts of different ways, some are big, some small, some wildly diverse. Who knew a family with a misunderstood former criminal cat, a sweet kitten, a dog headed hybrid cop and a robot would make a family.
It had been quite a long time since Petey had noticed all of his wrong ways.
Only time can heal someone, right?
But it was now an entirely brand-new chapter in the cat's life, and he couldn't feel more grateful. Sometimes, he thought to himself, what if he had not placed that bomb in that very field years ago, with Officer Knight and Greg the dog. What would his life look like now? Would he still be wretched, never changed and still fueling the hatred that resided in him. He knew the answer to that question, and it tore at him when he thought what he could have still been.
Had he not bought that cloning machine and had a received a joyful loving kitten.
All those years wasted, making the most horrible decisions. The only reasonings he could offer were that after lashing out, after his father leaving him and his mother. After his mom passing, no one could ever give him a second chance. Eventually reuniting with his dad to only get used again and again, his dad was still the monster he always was. He couldn't get those years back, he couldn't rewind what he did, and heal who he hurt emotionally in any way.
Li'l Petey was who he was when he was little, innocent, joyful, and caring from the start. Li'l Petey had already fully forgiven Petey for anything and everything that he had done to him very quickly. Just like his mom had done for him. Even when sometimes Petey deep down never thought he deserved that type of treatment from his son. Soon he slowly learned to accept it, and let his love pour in at last.
Dog Man, Petey never really had a great reason to hate him before. Except the obvious of foiling his malicious plans. He now felt like another form of tender love that he hesitantly and slowly let in. If it wasn't for the help of Li'l Petey, showing him that Dog Man wasn't that bad as he thought. He wouldn't have gotten twice the amount of the love he gets now.
Petey finally started really living, he no longer had the dying weight on his shoulders that he did before, he didn't feel broken or lost. No, not any of that.
Almost, as if all of his life was worth it, it was all just to lead up to these cherished moments.
He stopped letting his mind wonder, as he felt his eyes slowly start to water. He wasn't going to cry, not here, not now. It was nighttime, stars littered the sky like an artist splashed white paint onto a canvas. It was gorgeous, and now Petey can say he finally admires the skies.
It was truly mesmerizing and an addicting sight to stare at. The orange cat and half dog, half human laid at the top of a hill, silence filling their surroundings. Except for the soft sounds of distance cars zooming by and crickets chirping around them. But they liked it that way, it had been like this for a while, like they were thinking of what to say but couldn't quite catch it. It was midnight, and the two couldn't sleep so they decided to leave the house, careful to not wake Li'l Petey or 80-HD up. They walked for a little longer than they thought, just restlessly walking through the city, the sleepless Collardale town that was brightly lit with traffic lights and house lights. The same streets were Petey fought Dog Man on, the streets he committed robberies. But now, it wasn't like that anymore, Petey now was the one keeping the city safe with his new family.
