So I've been given the amazing opportunity to interview SpratleyMac one of my favorite authors on Wattpad. I am so grateful that she took time out of her day to answer some of these questions.
(Interviewer : T (me)
(SpratelyMac : S)——————
T : Hi, thank you so much for agreeing to do this, I appreciate it so much and the fact that you are taking time out of your day to answer these questions is unbelievably generous.
S : Aw no problem at all! I'm honored to be asked :]
T : When did you join Wattpad and what made you think of starting to write on the app.
S : I joined Wattpad in September of 2017, I think. Over that summer, I had this crazy idea for a story that I would just simmer over at night. It made me want to find a story to read that was like the one in my head, so I started looking for an app with free books I could read and found Wattpad. I had no luck finding a book like the one in my head, which sucked, but I found good ones so I stuck around. When I learned there was an option to write your own story up here, I felt like there was no reason for me not to try and write my own and that's how my writing journey on this app started.
T : What was the first book you ever wrote.
S : The first book I ever wrote (and finished) was 'Shadows Peak', which is still on my profile on this app. The very first book I EVER wrote was for a school assignment, so I don't really count that because I didn't write it for myself but for a grade, and it was only about five chapters.
T : Have you always liked writing or did it only inspire you later on in life?
S : I think I've always liked writing, whether that was writing songs or poems, but I didn't really get into the idea of writing books until I joined this app and gave it a go. Once I started...well, it's hard to see myself ever stopping.
T : What is your favorite book of all time?
S : Yikes! That's a hard question to answer. I have so many favorites, but I'd probably say it's 'Maybe Someday' by Colleen Hoover, simply because I could reread it over and over again and never get tired of it. I highly recommend it for young adults anywhere because it is definitely a fave.
T : Dogs or Cats ?
S : DOGS! Is it even a question? Haha.
T : A movie that has made you cry ?
S : This may not be an obvious choice, but 'I Am Legend'. It's that movie with Will Smith and infected zombie-like people. I'm sorry, but when the dog died...I was balling. I still cry to this day whenever I watch it. The feels are THAT real.
T : Your sister @lanaavictoriaa made the book cover for your book I Got You would you say you work well together ?
S : Um, YES. She is my best friend, no doubt, and even though we drive each other crazy, we support each other's writing and work like no other. She listens to my crazy rants as I try to make sense of the directions I'm taking my stories, and she easily gets me so collabing is a breeze. Love you, sis!
T : Is there a message you've tried to pass on to your readers with your books ?
S : I definitely try to show my readers that nobody is perfect. It's a theme I have with all of my characters. I aim to make them as realistic as possible, as far as personalities go. But, I also try to show that even though people aren't perfect, and even though they make mistakes, that doesn't make them one-dimensional. Even the 'mean girl' of a story could be relatable, or even a good person, if you look at things from a different perspective, and that's what I want my readers to find. That people are complex, and we never truly know what they're made of until we give them a chance to show their true self.
T : What would you like all of your supporters to know and always remember?
S : One, I would like for them to know that I truly appreciate them for all of their kind messages and support. It means so much and motivates me on days when I'm feeling down. And two, no matter how tough life gets, or how hurtful people may be, it WILL get better. Shake the haters off and love who you are. If you can do that, then I can't see anyone or anything getting in the way of what you want.
T : Is there anyone who inspires you the most ?
S : Definitely my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I read my Bible daily, and find the scriptures so inspiring and that's definitely what has impacted and shaped me into who I am today.
T : Lastly, all these readers must be inspired by how talented you are is there any other place besides Wattpad they can find you ?
S : They can find me on Snapchat! I've already got quite a few readers that added me on the app, and messagee whenever they want. I add everyone back, so if they ever want to chat, they can add me there! :]
T : Thank you so much for answering these questions, it's grately appreciated and I'm so happy that you'll be my first person I interviewed.
S : Thanks so much for reaching out and interviewing me! I loved your questions and had a blast answering them. :]
