It was as if she had stepped back in time, back when her life was simple and normal. (Y/N) stood there with her chest still taking in sharp breaths, letting her eyes rest upon the quaint, little house. It wasn't too small, but it certainly wasn't anything extravagant or fancy. It was a middle class home at best.
((Imagine it however you'd like, but I figured why not add a random pic 🤷♀️}}
Though it was just as she remembered it. Old memories began to resurface as she took in the old sight of familiarity, allowing it to comfort her. Even in her prison, she could still recall every detail of her home— from the old tree that stood high and firm in front of the house with a swing strapped on the thick, strong branch to the bricks that circled the vibrant flowers that grew by the windows. She could only smile fondly, recalling as her younger self struggled with carrying the heavy bricks to place them carefully with her father.
(Y/N) sucked in a deep breath, exhaling softly as she slowly treaded towards the tree. She placed her hand upon the rugged surface of the bark, looking carefully over it until her eyes lit up upon seeing the carving. However, her face fell, eyebrows slightly furrowing as she got a better look at it. It wasn't her name.
Jessie
She blinked a couple of times, letting the name roll off her tongue as she tried to comprehend why on earth that name would be there. She was so lost in thought that she hadn't heard the crunching of the ground behind her.
"Can I help you...?"
(Y/N) tensed up, her fingers still touching the marks until she finally let her arm fall back to her sides. Turning her head, she took in the sight of a teenage girl with (H/C) hair tied loosely back into a ponytail. Her (E/C) eyes wavered as she looked over the unfamiliar stranger. (Y/N) felt sick as she looked at her. It wasn't as though she was staring into a mirror or anything, but there was still an uncomfortable resemblance to her.
"N-No."
(Y/N) started backing up until she felt herself bump into someone. She instantly looked back, only to see that same Morty once again giving her a sheepish smile.
"H-Hey! I know you don't really know me, but y-you shouldn't just run off like that!" Morty explained, trying to clasp his hand around her own.
"Jess, are these your friends?"
(Y/N)'s whole world seemed to start spinning as she heard his voice. Her eyes met up with a familiar pair of eyes, her heart clenching tightly as she recognized her own father. She instinctively started reaching out to him, to scream to the whole world that she was finally home. It's a shame when things don't turn out the way you want, isn't it?
