"There's only a quarter of pages left in this. I think, I think I'm at the last entry of yours, Max." His faint fleeting touch felt like a whisper on her cheek as he held her face to look at his army green eyes, "What happens if I read it? What happens to you?"

He never felt true panic that he could remember, until he realized the chance of him disappearing from her at the last turn of a page had him hanging on the edge of a cliff.

His watery smile almost broke her, "Whatever happens, I'm sure we'll both be okay."

Sage's stuttering gasps told him she knew it was a lie, pressing themselves closer in desperation to completely feel his skin touching her cheek where he tries to wipe away her tears. "I can't lose you though," she pleaded.

His response was lost in her screams as he collapsed in another memory lapse that was the last of his.
