There is a meadow
Next to a shining creek
Where there is a hut
Where little people sleep
One, a fearless hunter
Two, his frail wife
Once a fairy with broken wings
The fearless hunter saved her life
He nursed her back to health
Forever standing by her side
Though at first she hated him
He easily bent to her pride
Gentleness and kindness
And tenderness of heart
Make life easy
And hard to be apart
Daily was he there for her
Daily he met her every need
He dressed and cooked for her
And took her out upon his steed
The path was not easy
To win her dear love
She must be dealt with gently
It's not to push or shove
Soon she came to love
And then depend on him
But who would have known
Tragedy would separate them
Gentleness and kindness
And tenderness of heart
Make life easy
And hard to be apart
Her father came with his army
To tear their world apart
He said the hunter was evil
To capture his daughter's heart
He flew down upon them
Sword brandished on high
The hunter drew his bow ready
As the fairy drew nigh
The hunter did hesitate
To draw his fearsome bow
It was his love's father
That would soon take the blow
Gentleness and kindness
And tenderness of heart
Make life easy
And hard to be apart
Her father though knew no mercy
Swiftly he bellowed onward
This hunter must die now
Having touched the most honored
He slashed with his blade
The hunter's arrow flew
The arrow missed it's mark
Oh don't say that it's true
The fairy slew her hunter
Though she begged for his life
Her words fell on deaf ears
They couldn't listen to a hunter's wife
Gentleness and kindness
And tenderness of heart
Make life easy
And hard to be apart
She screamed and cried
And tore at her clothes
How dare he take from her
The husband she chose
"All is for not." she said
Without her hunter's life
To stand by her side
And love her as his wife
She drew an arrow
The one that missed
And took her life
After his lips she kissed
Gentleness and kindness
And tenderness of heart
Make life easy
And hard to be apart
