How the hell...

It's a wonderful Sunday afternoon as music dude plays some sick tunes from his electric guitar. Well, half an hour ago he was. Now he sits at the back of the truck as everyone packs the surroundings.

"Another good crowd today, Mr. (Samuel)Halls! That young man really is quite talented with the instruments."

"Yeah, thank you again, sir, for providing the space."

Samuel looks back at music dude. He sullenly looks down at the concrete. A man tries to fit the speaker past the dude, but cannot get him to move.

Samuel sighs and goes over to help. He puts a hand on the side of his lap and pats for him to move aside. He does as Samuel wishes. The mover awkwardly puts the speaker past.

"Not much of a talkative fellow, eh?" Asks the elder to whom Samuel was first talking with.

"No," he pauses, squinting his eyes at his ever so strange roommate, "not much."

The elder looks at the dude too, then stroking his beard asks, "How...how did you two meet?"

There was a pause, a silence, a moment for deep thinking as well as for some doubt. Samuel still stares at him as his strange companion does nothing of the awkwardness that's growing around him from the people trying to put things in the truck as he sits in their way. "Well," he turns to the elder with a stern look, "you know how sometimes there be a stray cat at night...in a box...and you bring it home...?" The elder's eyes went big as he lowers his voice to a shocked whisper, "You mean to say you brought a stranger, a homeless stranger into your house?! In the dead of night?"

Samuel's mind flashes back to that night. A glimpse to him asking him something that we cannot hear. The shabby dude looks up to him, long, uncut hair in his face, and answers Samuel's question. Samuel stoops down to take music dude's hand and lead him to his home.

We return to the present.

"Yeah. In a way, it could be told just like that...I suppose."

Samuel's stare at the younger man softened.
