Big Sur - March

"Happy late Valentine's Day babe!" Taylor lifted her hands from covering my eyes to reveal a private jet sat less than 6 feet in front of us. It was just us and Taylor's driver on the tarmac that I could see. It was almost 2am and the small airport was twinkling with all the colored lights guiding planes safely into the dark sky. It was making more sense why Taylor had insisted we went to my surprise in the dead of night. No paparazzi would either be awake or able to see us boarding her plane at this hour.

"Tay I..." I was stunned. Never in my life had I ever flown privately on a plane, hell I hadn't ever flown anything but economy! I knew Taylor had a plane, of course, but I was yet to travel on it. I looked down at my overnight bag, suddenly worrying about what I had packed for our Valentine's trip. I was pretty sure I hadn't adequately packed for wherever or whatever Taylor had planned. Taylor stood on the steps to the jet, hand outstretched.

"Do you trust me, Kloss?" Her smile was so layered, so enigmatic. I did trust her, I just didn't trust myself to not make a fool of myself by falling for the world famous celebrity who I could never give any sense of peace or safety. I barely had anything to my name other than a bakery in a small town and a very affectionate Yorkie.

"Of course, Swifty." I took her hand and followed her onto the immaculate jet. The seats were covered in a soft beige leather with 'TS'  impressed onto the headrests. There was a single stewardess who gave me a slightly dirty look before proceeding to shamelessly flirt with Taylor. I put my overnight bag down on an empty seat and looked out the window at the empty tarmacs and sparkling lights. I was excited, Taylor always brought me on the wildest adventures but I had a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach. I could never give Taylor what she was constantly giving to me.

I felt two arms slide around my waist, and I was trying to think of a joke when Taylor whispered in my air, her breath warming the skin on my neck.

"There's a bedroom in the back, you know... never have I ever joined the Mile High club..." I could sense the sultry look on her face even with my back to her. I thought for a second, bringing one of her hands to my mouth and kissing it softly.

"I think we need to be off the ground to join the Mile High Club, babe," Taylor laughed lightly and kept kissing my neck, "but I do think I should finish giving you you're belated Valentine's present."

I turned so that Taylor and I were face to face. She leant up on her tallest tiptoes to kiss my nose causing me to hoist her up onto my torso and carry her to the back of the plane.

"Fasten your seatbelt baby!" I whispered into her hair causing Taylor to laugh loudly and the judgy flight attendant to look even more pissed off. Feeling emboldened I decided to wink at the stewardess as I locked the door. I may not be able to fly Taylor around the world on a private jet but I could get her to scream my name, and only mine.

We landed as the sun was rising in California. Taylor had informed me somewhere over Kansas that LA was where we were going but not staying for long. I'd never been to Taylor's Los Angeles house. I knew she had bought a bigger place recently, sending Tree out to sign everything for her. The sky was an explosion of orange and pinka s we taxied toward an old hanger at a very quiet airstrip. I spotted a large black SUV waiting for us on the tarmac Next to the vehicle, a dark-haired woman in sunglasses waited with a tray of coffees. Taylor took my hand as we waited for the pilot to open the jet door. We began disembarking but as soon as Taylor saw the woman waiting, she dropped my hand and ran down the stairs to her. The woman palmed off the coffees to the driver beside her and engulfed my girlfriend in a huge hug. I felt a twinge of jealousy run through me. I looked at the woman, she was familiar but I couldn't put my finger on who she was.
