he could tell that they knew he was there. they were faced in his direction but couldn't see their eyes to tell if they was OK. He couldn't see the kid very well but to his vision it looked as if they hadn't a home in a while, he knew that feeling. he had started heading closer just enough to focus in on what they looked like. he could tell that it was a little girl with a purple shirt that was a little torn up and some shorts. her hair was a dark brown that cover both of her eyes completely. but then he noticed something that took him off guard, her lips had sewing on them.
Sebastian stood still not knowing if she would scream in terror if he got any closer until he saw something move. Sebastian flinched a little bit not knowing what was happening but then he realized that he shadow was moving, but she was not moving herself. he could feel a arm around his neck as if someone was trying to choke him but nothing was even near his neck except his sweater. then he realized what had been happening she was using her shadow to strangle his while making his body be strangled in the process. two possibility popped into Sebastian's head, she was either a witch or a shadow demon. he didn't see her making any hand symbols or reciting anything and she definitely wasn't old enough to have the power of just being able to hum and move her shadow, which in conclusion made her a shadow demon. Sebastian was never scared of demons since he figured if he was it would only make them hate him more. He could see her getting frustrated that he was still able to breath being a vampire and all.
"so your a little shadow demon are you" he said hoping she would try and at least talk to him. Apparently she got even more frustrated that he could talk perfectly, the pressure got stronger on his neck.
"I'm sorry to say but you can not choke me"Sebastian tried to explain and suddenly all the pressure released and their shadows went back to normal. This left a the little girl scared knowing that her only protection was useless on him. Sebastian was getting a little worried with the silence from her having the fear of her mouth being sewn shut.
"you cant choke me because i'm a vampire" he said trying to make the situation a little more even.
the little girl tilted her head curiously as if to show him that she wants to know what that is. Sebastian picked up on the clue but just wanted to extra check.
"have you never heard of one before?" Sebastian said wondering how much she really knew about in the world. the little girl shook her head giving Sebastian a chance to explain.
"well i'm this creature that only drinks blood for food and can live forever if i don't get killed by special weapons and keep drinking blood" he said with a softness in his tone trying to convince her that he was the nice person that he is. this did not work while making the little girl take one step away from him. Sebastian was disappointing in himself for making her scared. He kept asking her question though so he could get a better understanding of her.
"Are you cold?" He asked realizing that is was fall and she had shorts and and a purple t-shirt on, She nodded. Sebastian felt even worse not knowing how long she had been out in the cold for.
"Can I come over there and give you my sweater?" He asked while taking his sweater off and taking two stepped forward. Surprised the little girl took two steps backward and nodded her head realizing she was desperate. As he walked over there he could tell that she started tensing up as he got closer but ignored the urge to stop. As he had stopped right next to her he could see her shivering and rushed to get her warm with his sweater. once she had his sweater on there was a few seconds of silence and everything was still, then the little girl ran into Sebastian's chest hoping for more warmth. she felt a feeling of warmth that she hadn't felt in quite some time and was glad that Sebastian found her. Sebastian was surprised with the sudden movements but then embraced it with sitting up against the alley wall while holding the little girl.
It had been a couple minutes since they had moved when Sebastian had decided to break the silence.
"can you tell me your name?" Sebastian asked giving his last attempt of seeing if she could talk. It had taken a moment but then the question was answered.
"Sally," said the little girl. Sebastian let out a sigh of relief seeing that her lips were sewn separated.
"you know what I've realized" Sebastian said while looking at Sally. Sally looked up with confusion.
"your eyes are all covered up and I haven't seen them at all yet," he said while moving Sally's hair out of her face. As he lifted up her hair she gave a frown and a little grunt. as he reveled her eyes he realized why she wasn't so happy with doing so, they were sewn shut. Sebastian knew it was one of these moments were he wasn't supposed to over react.
"I'm sorry!" she said while quickly covering her eyes as to not let Sebastian see them for too long.
"please don't leave! please don't hurt me! please don't be like everyone else! she said while hugging Sebastian harder as if he might disappear if she didn't. Sebastian felt sad for Sally, it had seemed like there were others that had hurt her for something that wasn't her fault.
"why would I do that. Just because you had a bad experience doesn't mean you are a bad person. I would never do that," he reassured. He checked his watch in reaction and realized that he must get going before his food spoils but then again he would feel terrible if he left Sally alone in the alley once again.
"I do have to go but that doesn't mean I'll leave you here," he said getting up from the cold ground. Sally shuffled to get off him and silently wondered what he meant.
"I have to go back home, but you can come with me since I wouldn't want to leave you out in the cold tonight," he said picking up his groceries. Sally stood still for a second but then made up her mind and followed along Sebastian.
