Forget Me Not

I was silently sitting under the shade of the old tree where we used to hang out. The place was solemnly calm. The grass flowers  swayed with the cold summer air, the sunset added to the sad yet hopeful ambience.

Suddenly, a handsome young man with deep ocean eyes, pale skin and auburn hair sat beside me. I did not bother to look at him because I know only one person who comes here each year on the same date. I smiled when I remembered how manly he smelled. A mix of mint and his natural scent, my favorite. It always made me feel safe.

After a minute of silence he started to speak while looking at the sky.

"Do you remember the first time we met? You were here alone, crying because your friends stood you up." And he chuckled before he continued.

"We were so young back then. And there I was, running away from my nanny. I remembered you set up a picnic blanket with all the stuff. I tapped your shoulders but you shocked me when you hugged me, pouring more tears and blowing your nose on my jacket. So I gave you my handkerchief, spend the whole day and ate all the foods with you.
We became friends and would both sneak out to meet here, that continued for years until we grew up and dated. It is here where we first shared our kiss." A sweet smile appeared on his lips.

"We used to run around and lay down on the grass, do star gazing at night and climb up this tree. This place meant so much to me Grace. Whenever I am here I can't help but wish that everything could still be the same as before. I missed you so much." He started to cry and I can't help but flash a bittersweet smile at him.

If only you knew how much I prayed for the same thing too but life is not like that. Things could never be the same and time never turns back. Someday, we will be  together again. And when that time comes, nothing could separate us even death.

"Grace, I'll be back here soon. I just want you to know that I still love you. Goodbye."

Bye Jack. I love you too even when I am now a ghost from your past. Please, forget me not.
