Applejack had a hard week. She was used to work on the farm, but since the Zap Apples were finally ready, she, and her siblings had to harvest everything right away. It was especially hot this week. It was now Friday afternoon, and she had already filled out all the orders she needed. Now, what she needed was a nap.
She went into her house, and her lovely dog ran up to her, along with Opal, Rarity's cat. Though the most Opal did was give Applejack a blank look, and then going back to licking her paws.
Applejack gave Winona a rub on the head, and put her bag down.
"Hon, you home?" Applejack slightly shouted, looking up waiting for an answer.
"Yes darling! I'll be down in a few!" Rarity was heard from upstairs.
Applejack decided while waiting for her girlfriend, she would relax. She went to the bathroom to clean her face, and when she was done doing that and washing her hands, she went to the couch in the living room and plopped herself, laying down across it, feet going far over the arm rests.
She took her hat off and put it in the small coffee table next to the couches they had. She emptied her pockets that had a few things like her house keys, the keys to her truck, a few coins and her cellphone.
She put her head on the armrest while she laid there, breathing slowly.
She stayed like that for a little bit before starting to drift off. She was so sleepy, she didn't hear the footsteps down the stairs, or towards her. She only became more awake when she felt someone move her over a little bit on the couch, and a small body becoming close to hers, and a head resting in the crook of her neck.
"Hello my love, how was your day?" Rarity asked, sighing with contentment. Applejack always had this smell, and Rarity loved it. Most maybe would've been sick if it. Dealing with it for 3 years? Crazy to most, but a blessing to Rarity.
"At was alright ah guess. Ah am just plum tuckered out." She said with a slight chuckle. "Did you finish the two dresses?"
"When you walked in, I was just doing important finishing touches." Rarity answered, sighing. "These to girls sure were picky, and that's weird coming from me. They were talking about details that I don't have a problem with, but are very, very specific. I don't think I could afford to mess it up".
"As long as you got them, you should be alright." Applejack smiled.
"You're right I suppose." Rarity said with a chuckle. She tilted her head up and placed a kiss on Applejacks jawline, then put her head back in the position it was before. She started to gently rub her arm up and down Applejack's arm, that gave the blonde goosebumps, while Applejack started to stroke Rarity hair.
"Are you tired?" Applejack asked.
"I have to admit, yes. I was cleaning the house before I got started on the order. Then, when I thought I was done, that lovely dog of yours had an... accident on the carpet." Rarity said with a sigh. Applejack look at her dog who was sitting near by.
"Winona! Come on now, I've trained ya! If ya gotta go, wait by the door." Applejack said to her, which Winona responded in putting her head down, and then walking closer to the couch until she was right near the couple. She laid down there. Applejack knew that was her way of saying sorry.
"Don't worry, ah think she gets the message." Applejack said with a small smile.
"I'm glad, because I don't want to have to clean up after Opal and *yawn* Winona when you're not here. I'm fine with taking her out, but her having a situation in the house? Not something I want to do." Rarity said. Applejack hummed in response, and then kissed Rarity on top of her head. Her hair smelled nice as always. Like lavender.
"Do you want me to put on soft music? I know you're exhausted." Rarity asked Applejack. It was pretty dim in the living room. Rarity had put on a few candles for a nice calming vibe in the room.
"That'll be nice. Play what you want."
Rarity got up quickly to put music in the speaker, and played a song that she would sing to Applejack whenever she would have an Anxiety attack, ranging from work to thinking about her parents.
The song started the intro and Applejack smiled. Rarity came back to lay down on the couch, similar to what she was doing before. She squeezed herself next to her girlfriend, and wrapped her arm around her waist while placing her head on Applejack's chest. Applejack was much taller than Rarity, which cause certain situations to play out, like if Rarity needed to get something from the top shelf.
Applejack put her arms around Rarity as she closed her eyes, hearing the song play out.
"Short steps, deep breath. Everything is alright. Chin up, I can't, Step into the spot light. She said 'I'm sad,' somehow without any words. I just, stood there, searching for an answer."
Rarity began to sing along.
"When this world is no more."
"The moon is all we see."
"I'll ask you to fly away with me."
"Until the starts all fall down."
"They empty from the sky, but I don't mind."
"If you're with me, everything's alright."
As the song played out with Rarity singing along, both Rarity and Applejack found themselves drifting into sleep, holding each other. While Applejack fell asleep to Rarity's singing, Rarity fell asleep to the steady rise and fall of her lovers chest, and the slow calming breaths that she found more as a reward than almost anything else.
The song is "Everything's Alright" by Laura Shigihara. It's a very calming song that I thought fit this well. I hope you enjoyed this one shot. ❤️
