Bree's P.O.V
I sat there in the form of Percy looking at the point of where Medusa had turned to stone. The real Percy came running out. " This is sooooo cool. Is that what i really look like from the back?"
" Stop fancying yourself and snap Grover out of it." I shot at him.
Grover was shaking his head and knealing at the feet of the Medusa statue. Percy turned to him and said " Enchiladas."
Grover shook his head and said " Wooza."
" Why did you say that?" Asked Cai, now looking like Cai again.
" That's his favourite food." He replied.
Meanwhile, i focused on changing back to myself. My hair turned deep golden blonde, and grew down my shoulder where i plaited it quickly. My skin paled and mu eyes grew bigger, and changed to bright electric blue and silver.
" That's awesome." Breathed Percy.
" So what happens to Medusa here?" I asked him.
" Her soul goes to Tartarus in the Underworld, but the shell of her body stays here." Recited Annabitch. Nobody asked her.
" But why didn't she die of reflection before? There were plenty of reflective things around her?" Asked Cai.
I looked at the grimy windows, and then thought of Athena." Look at the place around you, do you see a clean surface in sight? I think she wore the veil not only to hide herself, but so the reflection was blurry when she looked at reflective things. Her anger at Athena was so much, and contained for such a long time, that she let it out at the slightest of mentionings. I mean, why would her symbol be in a cup of water? She'd driven herself mad at the prospect of her enemy. She didn't stop and think of the possibility of her actually facing Athena herself." I said, still looking at the window.
" Look who's the know it all now." Annabeth muttered.
I shot the dirtiest look i could muster at her. " Let's go."
" Where?" Whispered Cai.
" Any bloody place that's away from here. We'll get on the train." The wind around me turned cold. After my experience with buses i wasn't so keen, but we had to get somewhere. And i knew we were all thinking the same thing. The last option was death itself, to get to the underworld. But i wasn't even sure about that idea. Who knew how long the cue was to get to death land? And if it did get to that last straw, i'd be betting it would be me or Cai that would have to go. We might be able to get a V.I.P fast pass. But until that passable moment came, it was the train for us. Now we just had to find one.
" What train?" Shot Annabeth.
" We're demigods, fighting death and monsters. But alas, it was the train that brought their noble quest to an end." Said me and Cai, throwing in the odd stupid action.
" There has to be a train somewhere around here, we're near a motorway and train tracks are near that area."
We plodded out of the dinner ( not before we all cover Medusa in toilet paper -Annabeth gave us all a disapproving glance- and emptied coke over her head ) and went back to the woods. We'd lost valuable time. Further through the woods we went until the trees opened to tracks. We walk down the tracks for what seems like ages. In fact, it was hours before we actually got near a station. You could tell we were nearly there. The forest turned to fields, to small houses, to an actual small town. I see us in the train station windows. And stare. We've only been going a few hours, but we look wild. Percy has bits of leaf and ruble in his messed up hair, Grover has a messed up trouser leg that looks like a monster attacked him (it did). Annabeth has rips in her jeans and frizzy messed up hair. Me and Cai look no better, but we can fix ourselves in seconds. The others need sorting out. I mean, any monster walking in a five mile radius would be able to see who we really were.
" Into the toilets." I say to them all. Cai goes into the marked door without complaint, and comes out five seconds later looking perfectly normal. The others aren't so eager.
" Why?" Whines Percy as though i've asked him to clean the toilets, not go in them.
" Because you look like rats. Well, Annabeth looks more like a rat than normal, but you know what i mean." I can tell Annabeth is trying so hard not to answer back. Satisfaction floods my brain.
Percy traipses in, followed by Grover, and Annabitch follows glaring at me all the way. I don't trust them on cleanliness.
" Cai, would you go get Annabeth normal again?" I plead.
She nods and walks into the girls toilets. Meanwhile, i look around me and see if the coast is clear. It is. I then do the weirdest thing ever. I change my appearance to boy style. I mean, i know no ones at the station and watching, but it just wouldn't feel right going into a boys bathroom as a girl. So i shorten my hair, broaden my shoulders, and change my features. I then walk into the bathroom. Percy and Grover are sat on the sinks grumbling to each other. I walk in and they glance at me. I'm about to ask what their problem is before i realise that i'm now a boy. But i can't resist a prank.
" Hey Percy, hows Olympus. Hope Poseidon hasn't grounded you yet." I say in the most boyish voice i can muster. The effect is amazing.
Percy falls off of his sink and Grover bleats like a goat. I let the moment hang before i say something.
" Guys, it's me Bree." Percy gets up clutching his heart.
" That's so weird." He moves forward slowly.
" Enough talk, lets work."
I feel like a mom as i move around them both, taking out leaves and making them look like normal humans (other than Grover). When we walk out, i don't think either of them have felt more weird in their lives. I change my appearance back to girl, and we wait for a train. A train to take us anywhere.
