This morning I received a phone call from a 509 number. I wasn't sure who it was so I answered the phone. It was a recording about criminal activity with my social security and I needed to call right away. So knowing that it was a scam I called the number. The lady that answer the phone had a thick foreign accent. She stated she was the Social Security department and asked how to help me. Here is where the fun begins.

"Yes someone from this number just called my phone," I said.

"Can I have your name so that I can look up why we called you?" the lady asked me.

"My name is Crystal W***"

"I cannot hear you. Can I have your name?"

"CRYSTAL W***"

"You are cutting off mama. I heard last name Wit-ham, but not your first name."

"CRYSTAL LIKE THE ROCK"

"Crystal Wit-Ham. Please do not yell at me."

"You said you couldn't hear me so I am speaking up so you can"

"Ms. Wit-Ham you have been called because your social security number has been used in criminal activity. Have you been called by the police about this matter?"

"No, no one has called me."

"Are you trying to tell me that the police have not called about this matter?" she asked me with an attitude.

"No one has called me about my social security number of criminal activity. Are you sure you have the right Crystal W***?" I asked her trying not to laugh at her.

"Is this Crystal Wit-Ham at 3555?"

I neither confirm nor deny this information to her.

"I am going to need for you to get a pen and paper so that you can write this information," her tone is getting harsh now. I am laughing my head off with my friend Katie beside me.

"I am ready give it to me,"

"I need you to get a pen and paper to write this information down."

I am laughing so hard while she is talking. I keep telling her to give me the information that I was ready. She hangs up on me. Well that is no fun so I call back. She answered the phone.

"Why are you calling if you are just going to laugh?" she asked me?

"I wasn't laughing. I was telling you to give me the information," I told her while laughing. She hung up on me again. So with a twinkle in my eye I smile at Katie and call her back. She answers again.

"Social Security, how may I help you?" she states when she answers my call.

"I want to speak to your supervisor. I am tired of you hanging up on me," I tell her firmly. She hangs up on me again. So I call back again. This time it rings and rings and rings. Katie and I are just laughing about how she keeps hanging up on me. When the call is finally answered it is a male voice this time.

"Social Security, how may I help you?" he asked into the phone.

"Yes someone called me from this number and the person I was talking to keeps hanging up on me," I tell him.

"May I please have your name so that I can look up your account?" he asked me with a thick accent just like the woman.

"Crystal W***," I tell him.

"Can I have your name please?" he asked me again.

"CRYSTAL LIKE THE ROCK! LAST NAME W***!" I yell into the hands-free headset.

"Ms. Wit-Ham you have been called because your social security number has been used in criminal activity. Have you been called by the police about this matter?"

"No, no one has called me."

"Are you trying to tell me that the police have not called about this matter?" he asked me with a shocked tone in his voice.

"I have not received any calls from the police. Are you sure you have the right Crystal W***?" I ask him. Katie is laughing beside me. I can't believe that he is saying the same thing word for word that she just said to me 2 phone calls ago.

He doesn't answer my question. He tells me to get a paper so I can write down the information. He told me his name was Sam Wilson. He gave me a badge number and a case number. I repeat them back to him as he says them because I don't have paper and pen because I am driving to work. I didn't think he needed to know that.

"I need to verify your information. What is your birthdate?" he asked me.

"It is 2/14/1977," I told him. This is not my birthdate at all.

"What is the last four digits of your social security number?" he asked me.

"Zero-Zero-One-Six," I told him giving Katie a smile. This is not my number at all.

"Ms. Wit-Ham your social security number was used in a crime in Texas? Have you ever been to Texas?"

"No, I have never been to Texas," I lied to him.

"Ms. Wit-Ham your social security number was used to move money from this country into another country. In a house where cocaine and residue of blood was found your social security number was found. We are going to have to suspend your social security number. Do you understand?"

"I'M GUILTY! IT WAS ME! COME GET ME! THE COCAINE IS MINE!" I yell into the phone. "IT WAS ALL ME!" I have been hung up on again. Katie and I start to laugh.

"Oh man he hung up. I should have told him that he knows too much and I was going to have to find him," I told Katie.

"That would have been so funny. I bet he would have freaked," Katie told me with a laugh.

"I'm calling back again."

I call and the phone is picked up and hung up. I call again and it happens again. Katie and I can't stop laughing. No one wants to answer the phone. I call again and the phone rings until it goes to a voicemail. The voicemail belongs to a Rent Burnt.

"Rent Burnt, I am trying to get ahold of Sam Wilson. He knows too much about me. He knows about the cocaine. I have to talk to him," I said into the voicemail message and then hang up.

Katie and I can't stop laughing. It is so funny. They won't answer the phone or take my calls. I decided to try one more time and a man answered the phone.

"Social Security, how can I help you?" he asked.

"I am trying to get ahold of Sam Wilson," I said with a laugh.

"Sam Wilson? Do you have a case number?"

"Sorry, I don't have my case number. I just need to talk to Sam Wilson. It is very important."

"Can I have your social security number?"

"No, I need to talk to Sam Wilson. He knows too much."

I was hung up on again. Katie and I laughed aswe walked into work. I had called them 12 times. I hope that all the calls Imade and the time I was on the phone helped to stop someone else from beingtricked by these people.
