"Your worst nightmare."

Those words made my ears ring and my head swim in confusion.

I stared at him for what seemed like a lifetime.

Out of the blue, the bedroom door flag open, leaving a pale lady shaking in the hallway.

"Luce?" The man run to the door in alarm. I didn't notice the speed in which he moved!

Her eyes were wide with unknown fear.

"Jax..." she hiccuped.

"The......the....suckers. They've......"

She paused and look down at her beige coloured gown, scarlet red blood gushed out of her eyes as the whites rolled back her skull.

Her knees trembled slightly, then buckled.

"Lucy!" The man....Jax seemed like he cared for the old lady.

I stood rigid unsure of what to do as the ghastly scene unfolded.

Bile rised in my throat at the sight of the woman falling to the floor.

For a moment everything went pindrop silent.

Then the shouts came.

The glass chandelier above our heads burst into fragments. Shouts broke from outside of the room. I barely ducked avoiding a ball of energy directed towards me.

The woman, Luce I think wasn't so lucky the ball of energy landed squarely on her turning her flesh into into a pool of water completely and utterly melting her.

She clawed at her scalding skin, eyes bulging, peeling her flesh and leaving bone white skeleton.

I stared at her know all too well that image had been embroided in my memory till the day of my reckoning.

This had to be a nightmare. It just had to be.The screams and cries I heard begged otherwise.

Jax alarmed grabbed me and pulled me out of my trance and into the hallway. Another crash of shattering glass captured my attention but before I could react I hit the ground.

Pain sped through my body like white fire consuming my veins. A hand immediately cover my mouth muffling my screams.

My eyes teared up as my throat felt as dry as the Sahara desert. Swirls and lines blurred my vision as I leaned into Jax.

After the pain subdued Jax hauled me up and steadied me on my feet our eyes locked for a moment and something in his eyes softened.

"This way."

I took off behind him, half running to where he led. Muted cries still echoed from the hall way.

How many people were there?

The image of Luce played in my mind like a broken record.

Her eyes bulging in a painful way as she mercilessly proceeded to peel her flesh to possibly ease her pain.

It was something I will never want to witness again.

It was something I knew I would see plenty of times that day.

I shook my head pushing away the abhorrent thoughts aside and ran on.

We went passed a fallen knights and servants, all their bodies melted like a candle wax status. Red stained the floor-it was a blood bath.

"Here." Jax panted as we stopped at a marble wall, stained with crimson.

There was a fallen guard.
Jax grabbed the man's shoulders and started to lift him away from the wall and let go, leaving the man to fall to the ground in a heap.

A lost soul...

Jax ran his callous hands up and down the marbled wall, searching for a secret button of some sort.

His fingers caught one of them. And alas! The wall shook. A long, loud groan came from the separation of the wall to make a pathway to fit through a grown man.

My mouth dropped open in astonishment.

"How?" I squeeked.

He didn't answer, just picked up his pace and continued on. I followed him.

The journey through the tunnels was quicker than I anticipated.

I suppose it was because Jax took a lot of pokey backways and dark, twisty stairways that had probably been built years ago.

Considering the late events that occurred. Cobwebs and damp smell were a small price to pay for our safety.

At last, at the top of the a specific uneven set of steps, Jax mentioned for me to halt abruptly.

He leaned against a low, heavy and with numerous grunts and shoves, managed to open it.

A rush of fresh air flooded the cramped stuffy stairwell and heaved a sigh of relief.

"We are alive." I exclaimed before crushing into something hard.....

A hug.

Did I just embrace my worst nightmare!
