Y/N POV
*BANG BANG BANG*
Three harsh knocks rattled me from meditation. I slowly opened my eyes and smiled.
It was time.
I opened my mouth to speak, but no noise came out. Confused, I tried again. When it did not work, I tried to move my head to look at myself, but my whole body was frozen. The feeling of panic slowly made its way into mind, but it was stopped before my mental state could waver.
My smile slowly turned into a snarl as I realized the cause.
A small glow appeared around my right middle finger, and the panicked feeling and frozen body melted away.
"Bathin," I said hoarsely.
Somewhere in my head, a faint and sheepish laughter turned to coughing and choking before becoming silent. He wouldn't be making any trouble for a while. I made sure of it.
Three knocks once again resounded within the room. I quickly got up to greet them, but my body was stiff after staying still for God knows how long. Stretching seemed to loosen up my joints, but my muscles would need gradual softening.
My hand reached for the ornate knob and turned it, allowing the door to open.
An unfamiliar face wearing strange clothing greeted me.
"Huh? Who are you?"
The guard bowed respectfully. "My apologies Great Heir, but it's been so long since you've been out and about. Come with me and I will explain on the way."
Following him and talking on the way would save the most time, so I shrugged and followed him.
He led me through a series of familiar hallways, although the people we passed by were also unfamiliar and dressed strangely. As he said earlier, we talked on the way to wherever we were going.
"So what's going on? Last time I was "awake," I said to only wake me if there was a development for the last ring. So did you find anything?" I asked the unfamiliar man.
"Yes, in fact we did. We found it very recently, so reports are still coming in. And forgive me for not introducing myself earlier, my name is Paul, I am a 16th generation guard for The Organization. My grandfather was one of your last guards before you went into seclusion."
I nodded along as he talked.
"It's actually been 71 years since you last walked the Earth. Since then, countless forms of technology have advanced. Communication, research, tracking, among other things, have improved tremendously since 1945. It's almost to the point where you could consider it magic if it were from the point-of-view from someone from the early 20th century.
"We've prepared a presentation for you if you would like to view it. It should give you a rundown on everything that has happened that is worth noting. Of course, it may take a while to get through it all, but the research team wants to assure you that it is the most detailed account they could produce."
New tech isn't always a bad thing. They could help me. I nodded. "Sure, let's look at it."
Timeskip
*clap clap clap*
"Bravo! Well done!"
The whole thing brought me much astonishment and was worthy of my praise. Humanity has really progressed while I was gone!
