The End of Hal Jordan

"In Brightest day, in Blackest night,

The sky is dark as the stars twinkle in the desert Esquire of Coast City's bad lands   suddenly the ground begins to shake and giant green space ship crashes on into the Rocky road... Inside is Abin Sur a member of the Green Lantern Corp, intergalactic protectors of the universe Sur was battling an old foe as he starts to succumb to his Demise he orders his power ring to fly off in search of a new lantern the ring leaves Sur and heads through coast city searching for someone with the will power to wield it, the power ring can create constructs but it's wearer must have the will power to do so it's at a crossroads it sees a sign pointing to Ferris Air and one pointing to a football game no Green Lantern ring has ever selected a human before it decides to go for the one at the air Field believing him to have more will power the ring finds it's man in the form of a test pilot named Hal Jordan....

In an Apartment in Coast City Hal's laying in his bed as his alarm goes off,  Ehhhhhhh He groans as he slowly drags himself out of his bed  he slides through his living room on his socks and throws two waffles in the microwave, he then lays backwards on his counter and puts on his shoes he grabs the waffles  and his flight jacket it belonged to his father he runs down the stairs and passes the Duncan building as he heads to a parking lot and hops into his mustang another day at the old grind he says as he drives down the street.. okay okay he says as he Munchs down on his waffles with one hand and steers with the other,  got to get to work got to see Carol got to not get fired he says to himself, Hal's a test pilot for Ferris Air he's always wanted to become a real pilot he knows everything about planes but after his father's death he's never been able too... He arrives at Ferris Air, Hey guys Hal says as he waves to the people who work up front Hal Ms Ferris wants to see you says Tom a fellow employee oh great Hal says as he walks to her office, you're late again Hal Carol says, She runs Ferris Air is a top pilot and Hal's demanding boss she's also his ex girlfriend, good to see you too Carol Hal says we've talked about this you have to get here on time also I've told you I'm Ms Ferris not Carol we need to be professional she says I see why we broke up again you're to demanding Ms Ferris and I was late I had trouble in traffic Hal says, there's literally never any cars on this road it's in the bad lands in the middle of nowhere Carol says that's that's what made it so weird must of been a freak accident or a sale at Walmart or something Hal says I hate you Carol says is that you're professional opinion Carol Hal asks smirking, Hal I know why you can't fly but look there's only so much a test pilot can do without flying so if you want to keep you're job I'd advise you be here for it and that's my professional opinion Carol says coldly, fine Hal says as he sighs and heads out for his work day he puts on his sunglasses and thinks of the old time him and Carol had we'd know each other since high school we were where in love  but somewhere along the way things just didn't work out we both moved on but sometimes I can't help but Wonder what our lives would have been if we'd stayed together he thinks to himself.. as he gets to the cockpit simulator let's go through this again hey look it's fraidycat says Tom as Hal walks in really fraidycat is it the 1980s Hal says you're a test pilot who's afraid to actually fly believe me anyone could do you're job Jordan Tom says shove it Hal replies as he turns around to get in the simulator hey Hal says Alan the Janitor who's been moping around Hey Alan what's up Hal says the ceiling last I checked Alan says laughing Hal laughs a little too don't listen to those jerks Alan says referring to Tom and his Pilot buddies there right I mean everyone around here thinks that about me Hal says not everyone I know you kid you have what it takes it's just going to take time Alan says Thanks Al Hal says as he gets in the simulator, he gets in the  he flies how we doing Hal Carol says over the intercom pretty good wicked witch this Call sign Smokey do you read me wicked witch Hal responds very funny Hal very funny listen we need to test a new model you're going to hear shots I need you to remain calm Carol says wait what like a war  Hal asks suddenly he starts getting more and more anxious his father was a fighter pilot it's how he died Carol Carol Hal says calm down Hal it's going to be okay just focus the shots bring back the nightmares for him he ends up crashing the simulation and jumps out shaking Hal HAL Carol says hahahahah Tom and his friends are  laughing, stop stop it Hal says they ignore him Hal are you okay Carol says why didnt you tell me I cant do surprises like that, Hal say hey Jordan do you need you're mom to come with you next time maybe she can hold you're hand Tom says hey Carol says I mean even the stupid janitor could do it better then you, Tom says as he kicks over Alans mop bucket my bad Tom says jokingly HEY Hal screams Tom turns you wanna see my fly then let's do it Hal says yeah right Tom scoffs yeah and when I prove it to your gonna mop this whole hanger  Hal says you're on but when I win you quit Tom says Hal Tom Carol says it's okay Carol Hal says no Hal you don't have to do this Carol replies Hal pauses he looks at Alan who's picking up his mop bucket no I think I do he says as he grits his teeth....

Hal gets into the cockpit of the plane Hal don't do this it's stupid Carol says just let me know when it's clear he says he starts the engine he breaths in and out in and out, he takes off with his eyes closed he opens them and starts screaming whoa I'm doing it I'm doing it he says as he takes off in the sky, he does a loop as Carol and everyone watching is shocked suddenly the ground starts shaking Hal you're making a Sonic boom Carol says that's not me Hal says  he sees something falling from the sky a few minutes later a small green ring with a lantern on is flying beside what the heck Hal ha--- wha--- going u-p the- Carol says as it starts cutting off Hal tries to turn away but the plane glows green and Hal is being pulled by it brings him to the wreckage of the early crash, Hal gets out he sees a purple alien in a green suit with a white lantern on his chest, He runs to him Hello Hal says Hello human I see the ring chose you, Abin Sur says what who are you Hal asks I'm Abin Sur the protector of this sector a member of the green lantern corps   and Im dying Abin Sur says not on my watch Hal says as he walks to him trying to carry him away no there's not enough time take the ring the guardians will be in touch, I don't know you, I don't know you're name but you're a green lantern now you must protect this sector you have to put others before you and you have to be willing to die take the ring it's you're now Abin Sur says as he passes away....

Hal takes the ring and his clothes turn green like a jumpsuit it has a white lantern just like Surr's there's a Lantern in Sur's ship he takes it...
