Evelynn's Point Of View
I was awoken with the sun shining on my face. It felt warm. I like this feeling. It makes me feel safe.

"Good morning, sunshine!" Melanie cooed estatically.

I sleepily opened my eyes and rubbed them, "Good morning, Melanie."

"We'll get to the store in a little while, somewhere around noon. I have work to get to, so I made you breakfast already."

Breakfast sounds amazing.

"Thank you," I smiled sweetly.

"I'll be doing it every morning unless I'm in a hurry, no need to thank me."

I smile again, she's amazing. I got dressed once Melanie left the room. I put on a yellow blouse and dark blue jeans. I tucked the bottom of the shirt into my jeans. After I had all my clothes changed, I brushed my hair and teeth, walking down stairs for breakfast.

There are four pancakes on top of each other on a plate topped with berries and syrup. It looked absolutely delicious. Melanie is currently in her room putting makeup on.

"I didn't know how much you wanted so I made about seven but I ate three and gave the rest to you."

"Thank you, Melanie."

She smiled, "absolutely."

She looks down at her phone.

"I'll be back at two o' clock, once I get back we'll head out to the store for school shopping. Help yourself to whatever you want during lunch, snacks are on top the refrigerator."

"Okay, thanks."

She smiles once again, walking out the door. "Goodbye!"

"Bye!" I said back. I grabbed the fork and knife that was left beside the plate and started eating. This beats every cereal I've ever had. I don't know what pancakes really are but they are delicious.

After I ate I washed my dishes then went back to my room, grabbing a book off the shelf by the stairs before entering my room. I sit on a chair by the window and start reading "One For Sorrow".

The doorbell sounding grasps my attention from the book. As I crease a corner of the page to mark my place, I walked down the stairs slowly.

Melanie didn't mention anyone was coming over. I opened the door to see a boy. He looked some what around my age, blonde hair and deep brown eyes. The boy in front of me is wearing a red flannel jacket and light blue jeans.

"Oh, hi. I'm Alex, is Melanie here?"

He gives me a sincere smile.

"No, she just left an hour ago. Can I deliver a message?"

"No, uh, this package was here for her. And you are?"

"Oh, excuse me. I'm Evelynn, Melanie's.." I cut myself off. I didn't know if she wanted me telling people she adopted me.

"Daughter. Melanie's daughter."

"Well, it's nice to meet you, Evelynn." He smiles again, fumbling through his pockets. "Here."

A folded piece of paper, "my number."

I was confused.

"Oh right, let me explain," he chuckles.

"I'm trying to make friends, I go to school here but I never talk to anyone."

"I can be your friend."

He smiled once more, but I frown. I don't have a cell phone.

"Can I call you on a home phone? I don't have a cell phone yet," I felt embarrassed as my cheeks get warm.
