No. No. Not like this. Not like this.
My mind was frantic as everyone around us began panicking, either calling 911 or screaming or worrying.
"Yes hello? I need an ambulance quick." I heard behind me faintly.
"Why...why is everyone so...freaked out?" Ashley says softly, looking up at me.
"Because...its your birthday...we werent expecting to walk in on you a-and...you tried to..you almost killed yourself...Ashley why?" I said softly, my voice faltering.
Ashley sighed.
"Life is so...rough." She chuckles weakly.
"Don't do this to me Ashley." I whimper, holding her tightly in my arms as her head rests on my shoulders.
I felt her warm blood trickle from her wrists and onto my shirt.
"Im sorry Mitch...i...I didn't think you all would be this...crazy.." Ashley said with droopy eyes.
"We care about you Ashley. We..need you." I say to her, looking at her pale face and dull eyes that were once so bright with life.
"It didn't really seem like it..." She shrugged.
"Ashley..." I cry, yet all she did was place her hand on my cheek, wiping my tears.
"Shhh. You guys don't need me Mitchy. You have great friends...a stunning girlfriend...your life will be just fine.." She smiled weakly. I felt my heart sink into my chest.
"Ashley it isn't like that...I love yo-" I began, yet she cut me off.
"Remember...back in Barcelona...when we shared a room together..." She smiled.
"Yeah?" I said softly, holding her up as fragilely as possible.
"We kissed..and cuddled...and watched movies the whole night..." She giggled.
I remembered that night more than any other.
"Yeah...it was fun.." I said as tears started building up in my throat.
"Remember that...that song that you sung to me so...I could go to sleep, cuz we watched that one s-scary movie?.." She said with teary eyes.
"Yes." I sniffled.
"Could you sing that to me?" She smiled.
I sighed, brushing Ashley's hair from her face.
Everything around me moved in slow motion, as if the only people here were ashely and I.
"You are my sunshine." I sang softly.
"My only sunshine."
"You make me happy."
"When skies are gray." I sung as best as I could without crying.
"You'll never know dear.."
"How much I love you.." I sung softly, looking down at Ashley. Her eyes shut slowly and her smile faded from her face.
Tears poured from my eyes as I held Ashley's body against mine, clutching onto her as my forehead rested upon her cold one.
"Please don't take..my sunshine..away."
