I stared at the sight in front of me. A tall man in ripped clothes with a deer's head, he must've been the silhouette I saw yesterday. He was far away but close enough to see his basic features, or what was left of them. He began to walk towards us, picking up speed while we all panicked and clung on to one another. Ben grabbed a strong stick to defend himself while Hannah and I looked for something else, eventually both grabbing a stick as well. The creature was much closer now, enough to see them in more detail. His antlers were almost bigger then his head while his two sets of emerald goat like eyes shined from the reflection of the sun. His hands were mangled as a hoof grew out from the palm of them, the same thing happening to his feet. It was as if someone had merged together a human and a deer. Once close enough he ran forward quickly and grabbed Ben by the hood, he was quick to react as he swung round his arm and hit the creature in the neck. The creature stumbled back and Ben took this opportunity to run, taking me and Hannah with him by grabbing our arms. While we ran together I tripped on a root that stuck out of the ground, dragging the others down with me.
The creature slowly closed in on us, tilting his head as he stared curiously at us. We linked our hands and closed our eyes as we waited for the inevitable. Just as we though he was going to kill us we opened our eyes to him crouched on the floor, holding his face in pain as blood ran down his hand, a brick laying next to him. We looked over to see Josh panting and sweating from running so fast... And maybe the panic. "Hurry!" he yelled to us as we got up and went to run again. I tripped again and cried out in pain, the others looked back at me then down at my broken ankle that was facing the wrong way. Hannah ran over and helped me hop away with the others.
Once away from the woods Josh turned to us with a concerned expression. "What the hell was that thing?!" he yelled. "I don't know but it's not friendly..." Hannah said before adding. "We should go home, it's clearly not safe out here." I winced in pain then glared at her as if she were crazy. "Home? Seriously? My mum will ask so many questions! My ankles broken remember?!" Hannah rolled her eyes for the thousandth time today. "Well what else can we do? If we don't go home they'll look for us anyway and this town isn't that big." She said with a snarky tone. "Then lets not stay in the town." Ben spoke up. "What?" we all said collectively. "Well think about it, the next town is in walking distance. The towns small, you said it yourself Hannah." Ben replied. "Yeah but Cy can't walk and i'm not carrying her all the way." Hannah said. "I can sneak home and get my old wheelbarrow and push her in it." Josh suggested. "Sure that works" I said as we all set off to put this plan in action.
