Ashley's phone was buzzing on the floor. V picked up the phone and switched off the alarm. Meanwhile, the message screen was open and he read through the text from the private number. Suddenly the situation strikes him hard and he rushes out of the room. *********************************************************************************************** While at the room near the rooftop.......
Ashley opened the door in front of her and a familiar figure was waiting for her near the window. The moonlight pierced through the room and drew a clear border between Ashley and Zico. The silence was broken by Zico and he said,
"I have been waiting for you my whole life. I even entered college illegally just to see you. Forget everything from the past and come to me."
He extends his arms to touch her face but she moves away from him.
Seeing that he goes and hits his head on the wall and says, "Look, I am doing all this for you. Don't be so stubborn dear and listen to me. Just leave all your studies and come with me", said Zico.
Hearing those words Ashley replies calmly, "Your ex-girlfriend Ashley is dead. You treated her as a tool for pleasure when she loved you. She cried days because of you and you found joy in stamping on her tears. You still don't realize what you did wrong, then go get treated in a mental asylum".
"Youuuuu. How dare you act rudely? Act like a slave and be loyal to me since you lived your life eating my money while we were dating", said Zico fiercely.
"Ahhhh!!! You might be delusional, aren't you? Should I send you a copy of my bank statements? I can also call the police for verification of money transfer", said Ashley and she searched for her phone. Realizing that she left it at the library, she tried not to show fear on her face. Zico was totally angered by the situation and he pushes her to the wall. Her hand hit really hard and she fell down with blood all over her palms. Suddenly Zico snaps out of his anger and acts sympathetic by saying, "Oh my God! Blood. I told you right don't make me angry. Say that you are sorry and everything is your fault. I can forgive you and we can go start a new life".
"Just stay in this room. The trash gets picked up tomorrow", said Ashley with a sarcastic smile.
She continues by saying, "Oops! I am sorry and it's my fault that I called you trash but I thought you already knew".
After hearing this Zico completely lost it and he angrily goes and picks up a cement block. He walks towards her and said, " I swear I will make your mouth shut with this".
At that moment the door crashes open and police enter.
"You are under arrest for stalking and illegal entry", said the officer.
"Nooooo I didn't do anything wrong. She is my girlfriend. She called me here", said Zico.
"Ohh I can see that. Now your statement will prove that the private number contacting her was you. You are going to jail for a minimum of two years", said the officer.
Then he turned to Ashley and asks, "Are you alright madam? Should we call an ambulance for you?
"Thank you, officer, for coming right away. I can go to the college clinic. It's open 24 hours", said Ashley with gratitude in her eyes.
"It's all thanks to this young man", said the officer pointing to V standing behind him. V walks towards Ashley, held out his hand and asks, " Everything is over. You are safe now. Let's go to the clinic."
Ashley grabbed his hand and gets up. Seeing the blood on her left hand, V takes the handkerchief from his pocket and ties it up.
"We are done with things here. You guys can go. We will take care of this criminal", declares the officer.
V and Ashley leave the room and walks to the clinic. None of them were speaking with each other on the way. They reached the clinic and the nurse quickly comes and dress up Ashley's wounds. When they both came back to the library and V asks, " Do you want me to drop you back home? You aren't planning on working at this state right?".
"No. I will just stay here for tonight. If I go back home at this hour Mia will be terrified. Anyhow there are only just three more hours till dawn. Anddddd.....I owe you my life", said Ashley with tears in her eyes.
Suddenly the lights go off and V responds to Ashley by saying, "You have to leave your tears behind in this darkness so that you can see the precious things next to you when the light comes back".
Interrupting them the security comes in with a torch and says, "There is an unexpected power outage. It would be fixed by morning. All of you guys can either go home or if you prefer to stay there are torches under the table".
The students left in the library packed their bags and decide to leave. Meanwhile, V gets the torch and hands it over to Ashley by saying, "Just keep the torch on and shine the light so that you won't be afraid. I will be sitting on the far end of the room so that you will be comfortable".
"Don't go. I don't want you to be in darkness", said Ashley.
There was an awkward silence in between them but deep down the heart both of them were relieved.
They both sit down together on the floor and Ashley was staring at the wall and moving the torchlight to create patterns. Suddenly she starts talking,
"There was this girl who loved ice creams. Love was like an unfamiliar flavor. When she tasted it first it felt sweet but when she swallowed it, the taste grew bitter. There was no escape. She fell in love with a guy who pretended to treat her well when she was alone. But she, later on, realizes that she loved the wrong guy. She broke up with him with a broken heart. But he haunted her like a shadow and continued to torture her. I couldn't take it anymore. All I wanted was care and affection."
Saying this Ashley broke down in tears and covered her face with her hands. Though V was shaken by what he heard, he placed his hands on her head and whispered to her, "It's going to alright. You had the courage to speak about it. You are no longer trapped in someone else's dream."
Time passed by and the morning light began to hit the walls through the windows. Ashley slowly opened her eyes and saw that V was fast asleep with his head resting on her shoulders.

She leaned her head back to the wall and recalled V's words with a smile,
"You have to leave your tears behind in this darkness so that you can see the precious things next to you when the light comes back".
