Meda's eyes slid open slowly, all of her tiger senses working to find any possible threat in the dark corners of the room she was lying in. Shifting slightly she removed her head from where it was resting in Draco's lap. Glancing up, she noted that the other wizard was sleeping; head tipped to the side with his back resting against the pillows piled behind him. The moonlight seeping in between the blinds cast shadows upon his face, making him appear ghostly and angelic at the same time; his skin was so pale he glowed ethereally. Meda leaped off the bed, passing by the window as Draco stirred in his sleep, hand patting the bed where Meda had been lying. Violet eyes softened when Draco settled back into sleep, hands lying still on a pillow coated with small black hairs. Stretching her lithe body, the aches and pains of yesterday's assault had her curling her lip and hissing silently. 'You should have been more careful' came Harry's voice sounding rather smug. Deciding to ignore him she made her way to a set of French doors. Pushing past the blinds she found that they had been conveniently left unlocked, a light paw on the handle allowed her to push through and limp into the awaiting darkness.
Perching haphazardly on the thick stone railing of the balcony, Meda stared at the full moon hanging in the sky. Watching as Harry did loops and dives in the starry night sky. Unknown to him though was that the sky he soars under had become a beacon. A beacon of hope, it represented everything that Meda strived to protect and everything she wanted to become.
----------------------------------------------------Flashback----------------------------------------------------------
"There she is boys let's get her!" came the voice of young Billy Bradshaw or as he was more commonly known as 'The Orphanage Bully'. He was a mean boy with a face that always reminded people of a shark, with his sharp smile and almost dead eyes. He was not a very smart boy but what he lacked in smarts he made up for in bad attitude. At the moment he was playing his favorite game with his friends 'Witch Hunt'. Which really translated to beat the living snot out of Andromeda Jackson or the witch of Saint Marks Orphanage. Now it was rare that the boys ever caught Meda but today she was not so lucky. She had been running for almost an hour trying to stay away from this pack of older boys that wanted to hurt her. Meda never understood this game and why they always picked on her, but she supposed it was better her than one of the younger kids. Andromeda made a sharp turn and came face to face with a brick wall. She tried to climb or find a way out but it was too late, they had found her. "Look what we have here boys, the witch has finally been caught." said Billy, " I think we need to teach her a lesson don't you." A chorus of yeses followed that statement and what followed was a horrible attack on that small girl. After about 30 minutes of constant punches and kicks, the boys left her there in that alley. As Meda lay there she looked up at the sky and saw the moon, it was so bright and made the darkness not seem so scary. That's when she heard a voice, " Weak, poor, defenseless child! Is this what you do with my blessing just lay down and take a beating?" Meda knew this voice but from where she could not remember. "Who are you? Show yourself!" whispered Meda, "I am Order and you are my champion and I will not allow my champion to become a weakling that can not defend herself." As this was being said Order appeared before the child and stood above her looking down. Then Order said with a powerful voice, "From now on I will train you to fight, you will become a guardian of the weak and will use the gifts that my sister and I have given you." Meda just stared at the figure before her and when Order offered the child her hand she took it. "I will follow you and will become who you want me to be," Meda said as she looked the being in the eyes with a tilt of her chin. Order saw the fire in her eyes and smiled finally seeing that her gift was not wasted. "Whenever you feel weak or alone just look to the moon child for that is where I will be. I will lift you up to heights you have never seen and no one with ever lay you at their feet again." Those were the last words spoken before Order left with a flash of light. Meda stood and shook off the dirt and when she looked down she realized that she had been healed and with a smile, she turned and made her way back towards her home.
