The next day, Nick showed up to school. Looking like shit though. Everyone knew he was a pretty good looking guy, so seeing him so down in the dumps made everyone really glum.
Edwin, Myah, Sarah, and Alicia immediately took notice of his presence and crowded to him.
"Dude, are you good?" Myah says, actually worried about Nick's appearance, "I don't wanna be seen with someone as ugly as you, soo..."
"OH MY GOSH, SHUT UP." Edwin tsks, shoving Myah out of the way and taking a hold of Nick's tough arm - Alicia taking hold of his other one.
Sarah follows behind like a lost puppy, books in hand and looking at Nick's back through her long lashes.
"I'm ok." Nick plainly states, walking without purpose and bags under his red, puffy eyes.
"You sure don't look like it." Sarah mumbles shyly, clutching onto her books tighter.
"'S fine, you guys. I'm perfectly fine." Nick chokes up, hiccuping while tearing up slightly.
And by slightly, that was a lie. He teared up a lot, especially seeing Austin making his way to Sarah who seemed to be smiling slyly when taking a glance at Nick.
"'S fine." Nick mumbles, a single tear falling from his eye as he looks down.
Alicia, quite shocked, shoved the boys into a random closet in the school to stop Nick from literally having a mental breakdown in front of the whole school. She locks the door and sinks down the wall, head resting on her knees while watching Nick sobbing into his hands, "W-What does he have that I don't? I can literal-ly eat tw-wice as much me-eatball subs than h-he can! What more can S-Sarah want?"
A cough startles all three of them as they look up to meet eyes with the idiot of the school.
"Nick? Crying? Oh shit." Zion looks shocked, mouth hanging open.
"Oh my gosh, since when were you here?!" Edwin screeches, grabbing a broom and pointing it at Zion.
"Some head ass showed me a wii here so I've been playing since 6." Zion shrugs nonchalantly, still shocked from seeing Nick breaking down.
"How did you get into the school so early?" Alicia says, eyeing Zion suspiciously.
"That one Chem teacher who has the hots for me because I look like a Greek God."
"Ok, who cares. Nick, are you ok?" Edwin asks worried.
"'S fine." Nick says while pouring his eyes out.
"What happened to homeboy anyway?" Zion tilts his head curiously, "Is it that one girl with really curly hair that he's always staring at?"
Edwin inhales and locks his hands together, "Are you stupid?"
Everyone besides Nick looks at each other knowingly from the question asked.
Zion tsks and pulls Nick sit down besides him, "You really loved her that much?"
Nick nods, taking a shaky breath before continuing to cry again, " Sh-he was the o-only one who-o accepted-ed the f-fact that I li-like to look at t-trees for fu-fun and- and"
Zion pats Nick's shoulder while handing him a tissue, "And what?"
"N-now she's da-dating Austin!" Nick grabs the tissue and blows his nose harshly while crying, "A-All I ca-can do is d-dream of-f dating her."
Big yikes, Alicia begins hesitantly, "First period is about to start, Nick. Maybe you should just stop-"
"Nu-uh. He's staying here. In my new man cave. And we're gonna talk shit out. Right, Nick?" Zion looks at Nick for approval and he gets so as Nick nods still sulking, "See yous later."
Edwin and Alicia turn away hesitantly, but leave after noticing they had a hot minute to go to class.
Maybe Zion wasn't so stupid after all?
