Gone are the days when checking a box on a secret note meant you wanted to have play dates at the park, notes slipped through locker vents were meant to be shared and passed around at sleepovers to provoke giggling and speculation,

Gone are the days when ten seconds after saying hello you've become best friends and every last detail of your future wedding set in stone, the playground was your castle and kingdom and the moat was filled with lava for the dragon that guarded the gate,

Gone are the days when boys believed girls had a disease that one could never recover from if caught, and girls kept a permanent 5 mile radius from themselves and the closest undiscovered smell,

The days where a boy was too scared to hold a girl's hand much less be bold enough to get into her pants, respect is forgotten, decency isn't worth a cent, hormones can't be controlled, and intelligence of emotions is unheard of, common sense is more rare than honesty in a court room, and when a girl tells a guy no he doesn't understand when enough is enough, how are lasting relationships supposed to be formed when most guys only want one thing and girls are afraid of getting hurt? It all just seems like a big game that no one has the rules for and that no one will ever win, and if no one is ever gonna win then what's the point of even playing, what happened to game nights with each other's families, picnic's by the lake, and chasing the sun from coast to coast,

If I'm going to give you my heart I expect just as much in return, and if you want to keep me around then give me a place in your world, I'm not going to give up my life and make it all about you, but I'll start by giving you some of my time and let you know you have a chance, but remember that a relationship without friendship has no foundation and will fall apart with too much strain,

So can we go back to our childhood days and rediscover what it's like to be friends without needing to know how the story ends?
