Anastasia walked into Victors room. She had been searching for him so that they could finally talk, and had even risked sneaking around the tower to do so. However, instead of Victor, she found a letter...
Dearest Anastasia,
I'm leaving soon, I'm sorry. Though I still love you, I can't be here anymore, it's killing me. I'm crossing the border and if you still have any love for me at all, you'll burn this letter and my picture, so that Chapman won't be able to find me.
Love, VictorShe broke down in an instant as she clutched the note. Her screams echoed throughout the tower as guards came rushing in.
"What's going on in here?!" They yelled as they stared at Anastasia, who had fallen to her knees with tears pouring down her face.
"Where's the guitarist?!" One guard asked, grabbing her arm.Victor was almost out of the city by then. He had been following the GPS Annette gave him, positive that everything would go according to plan...
"HE WHAT?!" Chapman yelled out, throwing Victors letter to the ground. "SUMMON THE WATCHMEN!" He commanded.
"Sir, are you sure?" A guard asked hesitantly. "I said summon them!" Chapman shouted. At an instant, a group of men in trench coats, led by a man with a cigarette and aviators, entered the room. "Give me his picture." Chapman commanded of Anastasia who complied willingly. "Find this man, kill him." He told the leader who simply nodded and left.
"You can't kill him, please!." Anastasia screamed.
"You want him to live?! After he abandoned you?!"
"He hasn't abandoned me!"
"Oh little Anastasia, so naive. We found the letters. He's left you for another, a girl named Annette." Anastasias heart sank as the realisation of everything hit her.
"Then promise me one thing." She said. "Promise me he won't suffer."
"No." Chapman replied coldly before leaving her to drown in her tears. Staring at Victors picture she mutters to herself. "I don't want you to go..."Just as Victor was nearing the city limits he heard a bell toll, stopping him dead in his tracks. In that moment he knew they had discovered that he had escaped. Whether Anastasia had told them or not, he was unsure. But he couldn't dwell on those thoughts, because now, as the bells rang, he knew they were coming for him, the Watchmen...
They approached the city limits. Three in front with the leader in the back, still smoking his cigarette. They walked together ominously, slowly approaching the border. After a while they stopped and the leader came forward. Looking at the ground, he signalled the others to go in a different direction, as he followed Victors trail. Seemingly sensing their presence, Victor began to ran as more and more fear filled his heart. As he ran, a spotlight suddenly shone on him. He had been discovered.
Wasting no more time, he ran as fast as he could towards the border, his life literally on the line. There was no point in trying to find the blind spot now, he was screwed, but if he could just climb over the wall at the border, then he'd be free. Finally seeing the wall, he struggled to catch his breath. As he forced himself to go on he began to trip over his feet as his body tried to give in to the exhaustion. But eventually he made it. He slung his case over the wall and continued to lift himself up, when something happened...
Another beam of light hit Victor as he reached the top of the wall. The leader stood in front of him with a flashlight in his hand. He continued to smoke his cigarette as he just watched Victor freeze like a deer in headlights before dropping to the other side of the wall. As he did, he fell out of his coat as he stayed stuck to the wall, caught on a post. As Victor got up from the ground he saw them. The rest of the Watchmen all stood in front of him ominously. They had crossed the border through a different section and had been waiting for him. Victor now understood why the leader hadn't tried to stop him. Accepting his fate, he stood tall as the Watchmen each drew machine guns from their trench coats and fired. The leader puffed his cigarette as he heard the impact of the bullets hit the other side of the wall. Taking out a walkie talkie he spoke into it.
"It's done." He said simply.Back at the tower, Chapman stared out of his office window as a man entered the room.
"He's gone. You'll have no more troubles from him anymore."
"Good." Chapman replied.
"What's gonna happen to the girl?" The man asked as Chapman continued to stare out of his window.
"Release her. I have no need for her anymore..."Anastasia left the tower afraid. She had no idea what to do anymore. So she made her way to the border, away from all of the bad memories that the tower held. As she walked along the wall she felt the evil glares of patrolmen follow her until she found a familiar looking coat. It sat on top of the wall, hanging from a post. As she searched the pockets she found something. A GPS with nearby co ordinates programmed in. Looking at the device she smiled. Victor had given her freedom after all...
