Fifteen-year-old Lyrah Jackson gets abused by her father after her mother had mysteriously disappeared. Lyrah is the oldest daughter out of five. She streetfights at night, when her abusive father is asleep from late-night drinking.

Then one night, her father Owen tries to molest Danielle and Amelia, her younger sister's while sleeping; Luke tried to stop his father from hurting his little sisters but only gotten beaten for interfering.

Lyrah was there just in time to stop him from killing Luke and decided that it was time to leave this place and take her siblings with her to a better place.
