Lunch time

Beverly was nearly my only friend, which is why it was hard on me when she started hanging out with 'the losers' as she called them. It's not that they weren't nice, the ones I met were nice. At least for the short time I met them. It was a new school  year and she was already begging for me to hang with her and the losers.

"Come on (Y/N)! It'll be so fun." Beverly whispers to me.

"I don't know," I say, rubbing the back of my neck. "I don't think they'll like me." She rolls her eyes and grabs me by the hands.

"(Y/N), I know you don't like meeting new people, but it might be good for you. You spend your lunch in the library most days," she says, pulling us up from out seats. "And when not in here, you're hiding from Greta."

I look around at all the friends I haven't made with sitting in the school library everyday for the past few years. I sigh while picking up my stuff and mumbling a fine. She gleefully shakes my shoulders and drags me out and to another location.

"So like, what are they're names? Because I don't want to not know their names when meeting them." I ask, voice still in a whisper.

"Well let's see. There's Ben, Stan, Eddie, Richie, Bill and Mike. But Mike's homeschooled so we only see him after school or on weekends." She explains quickly to me.

She opens the door that goes outside and leads me over to a table with five boys sitting at it. Once a boy saw we we're coming over the rest looked over. They made room for us, but I decided to stay standing. Well this is kinda awkward. Bev nods for me to sit, but I ignore her and just lean on the table instead.

"So guys, this is (Y/N). She'll be sitting with us sometimes if she wants. (Y/N) this is Richie," she points to a boy in a Hawaiian shirt and glasses. "Next to him is Eddie and then Stan." Bev points out the boys, I know Stan. He's in some of my classes and sits near me in math.

"So I can only assume you are Ben," he nods. " And Bill." He smiles and shows me a thumbs up.

I wave at them and most just nod back, and with that the previous conversation continued. I look around at the group of kids, how will I fit? It seems they all know each other and like each other, where do I fit in?

"(Y/N)? You can sit down you know, Stan doesn't bite, at least not that I'm aware of." Ben says to me, snapping me out of my thoughts. I clear my throat to rebut, but Beverly sends me a look.

"Thanks, I'm just kinda nervous." I admit as I slide in next to Stan. He glances over a few times.

"Nervous about what? Sitting next to Stan the Man?" Glasses kid, Richie, asks me. I shake my head no and glance at the trees around.

I let my head lay on top of my hands while gazing at the scenery. It's really pretty here, maybe I should have accepted the request sooner. I barely hear the bell ring for lunches end. The group gathers our things and we all walk in semi different ways.

"(Y/N)! Wait up," I hear Stan call to me. "I was just thinking, since we have this class we could walk together." He smiles at me, damn he's cute.

"Okay, I didn't want to ask in case you didn't want to or anything." I smile back, we turn and start walking towards our class. We make small talk on our way, how were doing in our classes.

"I mean I've never been great at math. I can only hope this year goes well." I explain to Stan. A look runs over his face and he then breaks out in a smile. Cute as hecc

"I, I could help you study if you ever get stuck. If you want I mean." He proposes to me. I feel a smile grace my lips and I nod my head. We take our seats and our teacher drones for the rest of the period.
