The Quarry

I awaken to the sounds of birds chirping and talking in my house. I groggily get up and go down to the kitchen. My family, along with Beverly, are sitting and chatting at the table.

"Well! Look who has finally decided to join us!" My moms voice rings through the room. I flinch at the volume and reach for a plate. I proceed to take my seat next to Beverly and pile food onto my plate.

"So (Y/N), why did you sleep in so late?" My dads ask me.

"I, uh I couldnt sleep last night. Nearly midnight when I fell alseep I think." I speak honestly.

He nods his head and the other conversations resume as fast as they ended. I poke and prod at my food for too many moments, according to my mom.

"Honey are you okay? You've been picking at your food, and you've been rather quiet this morning." My mom suddely interjects, bringing me to the center of attention.

"I'm fine mom, just a little tired still."

"If you're still tired than maybe you should stay home today..."

"Mom, I'm fine. I'll wake up when I get ready." I say in an attempt to end the conversation. She give up with a curt nod. I eat half my plate then drag Bev and I up the stairs to get ready. She goes in the hall bath room while I open my closet to find something suitable to wear. I look at the clothes until I settle on something cute.

"I usually wear this when we go to the quarry," Bev explains. "It's easier to take off quickly" She smiles and I take a look at what she's wearing, a button up dress.

"So what time are we leaving?" I ask while looking for my small backpack.

"Uh... 15 minutes sound good?" She suggests. I nod my head and continue to search for the bag.

After finding it and grabbing some money just in case, we take off down the street on our bikes. I hope this goes well. My mind whirls with all the bad possible outcomes. It only takes a matter of minutes before reaching the quarry. We quietly bike up and hear the boys arguing about who is going first. She motions for me to stay quiet as we strip, so I do. She runs up to them. But not up to them, over the cliff. Really Bev? Screw me. Some boys shout about 'being shown up again'

"Am I going to have to do that?" The questions comes out of my mouth as I slink behind them. A few jump, including Stan. I smile sheepishly and back up slightly.

"If you don't want to, you don't have to. You and Stan can walk down there like pussys!" Richie shouts. To which Stan replys with a "beep beep rich!"

"Fucking Bev, didn't even tell me we'd be jumping." I say and run off the edge.

Once resurfacing, I see Stan follow my lead. The rest follow through, all shouting as they come down. I look around and smile at the friend ships. Maybe I will fit in here

"So how'd you like the jump (Y/N)?" Beverly asks with a smirk. I flip her off and attempt to dunk her. She takes over. Then starts the game of chicken. Bev allows me on her shoulders and the rest pair up together. Bev initiates the fight with Ben. Stan happens to be on top. We fight. Have fun. It something I'm familiar with, but not used to. I enjoy it. After what seemed like hours we calmed down. Everyone climbed up to a ledge and we chill.

"I forgot to mention (Y/N), this is Mike. I mentioned him yesterday." Bev speaks while grabbing our towel to tan on.

We wave at each other and I lay my towel out next to Beverly's. We lay there with 'Its tricky' bumping in the background. I let my eyes roam under the sunglasses I'm wearing. I notice most the boys staring at us. I kick Bev. Nod my head to the boys and look at her again.
