I couldn't help but stare, she was flawless. Her long brown curly hair, bright emerald green eyes, straight white teeth, and even her amazing figure. She was the girl of my dreams, the one I thought about everyday and every night but I knew she would never be mine. I mean look at me, I'm just an outcast no one special to anyone. I'm not even sure if she noticed me, oh who am I kidding of course she wouldn't. She is the popular girl with so many friends and i'm just the typical geek. I remember when I first saw her, it was our freshman year in High School now here we are two years later. I never really talked to her because I was afraid she would reject me or worst I would embarrass myself, but then again it wouldn't really matter would it? No.
"Kathryn Davis." the teacher said, I turned my head to see her raise her hand high in the air and flashing a bright stunning smile. I noticed the same group of guys hanging around her and do I admit I was a little jealous. I turned my attention back to the teacher waiting for her to call my name, after about five dreadful minutes my name was called. "Sam Smith." the teacher said, I raised my hand slightly and put it back down when she finally matched a face to a name. I looked back at Kathryn to see her laughing as one of the guys told a stupid joke, I could tell by the look in her eyes that she wanted those guys away from her and she wanted them away from her now. After the teacher told us what we needed for the class the bell rang, time for second period. I always hated the first day of school, it sucked the teachers would be all nice the first day and turn into Satan's minions the next. I was walking to my second period class when I bumped into someone, I look up to see no one other than my crush.. Kathryn. I apologized to her and quickly walked to my next class. I walked in the classroom to see a free desk by the window, I walked over and sat down when I realized something... I dropped my sketchbook when I bumped into Kathryn. I sighed and shrunk in my seat quickly sitting up when Kathryn walked in holding something, she walked to the empty seat next to mine and sat down. I glanced at her and I swear I felt my heart skip a beat, I was about to look away when she turned and faced me.
"You dropped your sketchbook back in the hallway, but no worries I picked it up." She said as she handed me the medium sized book. I smiled and thanked her, I was about to turn away when she said something else. "You know, your actually really good at drawing! Did you take any art classes when you were younger?" I smiled and knew now was my chance to talk to her. It was now or never, well here goes nothing I thought. I smiled a more and bit my bottom lip before answering her
"T-thanks, and uhm... n-no I never took any art classes." I stuttered, She looked at me and nodded. She was about to say something when someone yelled across the room.
"Hey look everyone! Stuttering Sam is trying to talk to Kathryn!" Everyone turned and started pointing and laughing, except it wasn't Kathryn they were laughing at.. it was me. I sighed and looked at the floor, everyone continued laughing until Kathryn yelled at them. After that everyone sat back down and returned to their normal conversations. I looked at Kathryn in shock, after a few minutes I told her she didn't have to stand up for me. The bell rang and we moved on to the next class, I didn't have any more classes together but that was okay. I knew we rode the same bus, as the day came to an end I waited outside for the bus to come buy. I just sat on the bench drawing away until I got a strange feeling in my stomach, it felt like I was being watched. I turned my head to see Kathryn standing behind me, I laughed as I faked a surprised/scared look, she laughed as well and asked what I was drawing. I told her it wasn't finished and she wasn't allowed to look, she slowly nodded and I continued to draw. Little did she know it was her I was drawing, I was about to show her when the bus pulled into the school lot. We got up and piled onto the bus. I found an empty seat and sat down watching as Kathryn walked onto the bus, everyone called her name wanting her to sit next to them. I waited for her to sit with one of the guys but to my surprise she sat with me, I looked at her and she told me how I still had to show her the drawing. I nodded and handed her the sketchbook watching her as she analyzed the page, I waited desperately for a sign that she liked it but nothing happened instead he handed the book back and hugged me.. wait hugged me? She told me how she absolutely loved it and how I should teach her how to draw. I loved her enthusiasm and agreed, I was about to say something when the bus came to my stop. I got up to leave but Kathryn stopped me for a minute, I looked at her a little confused until she handed me a small piece of paper with her phone number on it. I smiled and got off the bus rushing inside, I quickly ran up to my room and threw myself onto my bed squealing. This year is different, this year is better.
