Beginning of the End

Chapter 1 Taken

Raven awoke to a sound she had never heard before it was a low humming coming from outside, she then heard screams and gunshots. Raven quickly sat up and saw Aaron running from window to window. He was quickly putting resources into his backpack. Once he was done, he looked over at Raven to see her awake, so he ran over to her and put his hand on her shoulder to calm her down.

"Good your awake, we have to go, there hear, "Aaron replied, trying to sound as calm as possible, but his face said something completely different.

"What, but I thought it wasn't for a couple of months, they're early," Raven said her voice was shaky as she got up.

"I know, now we're in trouble... pack what you need, we're going to the underpass," he said in a low voice, he then got up and walked to the window, peeking through the curtains. "The cost is clear, are you ready to go," he said again, turning around to look at Raven.

Raven zipped up the last zipper and replied with a frown, "yes, I'm ready... But is the underpass a good ide..." She was interrupted by a loud bang and crash at the door, Aaron then grabbed Raven and hid in the vents.

They saw several guards and two people in strange yellow suits walk-in, the guards started searching the entire building, while the people in yellow suits stood by the door, holding odd devices. They went to every floor, in every room destroying everything in sight, after searching and re-searching they left, Aaron then grabbed Raven and ran out of the building being quiet and careful.

They moved along the walls hiding in alleys if a guard or drone came close. They almost made it to the underpass when they were blinded by one of the drones. They froze in fear, several guards surrounded them while others kept searching, grabbing, and dragging kids from their homes, the kids were scanned with the devices the suited people were holding.

One of the guards tried to grab Raven, but Aaron backed away, keeping them out of reach. Aaron then put himself in front of Raven to keep her away from them.

"Come on, just give up you're surrounded, just give us the girl," the closest guard said.

"No! I'm not letting you take her from me!" Aaron yelled.

"What family, no one has family anymore," he took another step forward with his and stretched out, Aaron took a step back trying to keep his distance. Aaron didn't notice that another guard had moved closer until Raven's hand slipped out of his grasp. He then wiped around and tackled the guard behind him. Raven turned and looked at Aaron, who just knocked the guard out. Right as Aaron was about to get up, three guards tackled him pinning him to the ground. The closest guard grabbed Raven by the hand.

"Aaron!" Raven yelled as he started taking her away. Raven tried to pull away, but the guard was four times the size of her. The guard picked Raven up as she continued to try to get away, punching, and kicking, and screaming for him to let her go.

Consumed with rage, Aaron pushed the guards off and ran for the guard taking Raven away. Aaron was just about to tackle him when they heard a gunshot. Aaron dropped to the floor, screaming in pain. The guard turned around to see what had happened and saw Aaron on the ground. Raven saw blood flow from his shoulder to the ground. The guard took one look and turned around, there was no sympathy in his eyes, he started to walk away but was yanked back by Raven, he tried and tried but couldn't budge her.

"YOU MONSTERS!" Raven screamed at the top of her lungs. A few people stopped and looked at her ."What.. what have you done." She whispered to herself, and fell to her knees then grabbed Aaron's hand. Then they heard muffled voices, everyone turned around facing all directions, she raised her head to see what everyone was looking at. Then she saw the mar appearing on top and inside of the buildings swaying back and forth like sick crazy animals.

"Mar the thing people are scared of, Mar are just other people, except for they aren't fully human. Mar is the infected they look half human half demonic beast. Depending on where you live is how infected you become. Aaron is a Mar, but I cured him with my blood going into his body, he was cured. I hope."
