"You brought a human, Mister Min? What for?" the guard in the tuxedo chuckles mockingly before smirking. Y/N feels his eyes scanning her body, visualizing what could be under her black suit, beneath his black and thick sunglasses. It makes her entire body stiffen and shame consumes her. She avoids looking at the man's face. In attempts of shaking the unwanted feelings and this weird unwelcoming sensation of unapproved sexualizing of her body she tries to focus on something else. Something silly, maybe. How can this man see and read the invitations in the dark with those glasses on? Let alone not walk into a pole or a glass wall?
"The invitation says so, doesn't it?" YoonGi's voice is low and his posture releases laid back energy. Hands loosely sit in his own suit's pockets and his chin a little bit tilted up to send a glance of superiority to the guard who mocked him, "Or don't you know how to read?"
The guard's smirk drops and he replies with a dry; "Enjoy your time," before he not-that-gently hands YoonGi the invitation and turns to the next guest without another word or glance.
YoonGi leans over to Y/N and he mumbles in her ear; "I did not lie to you when I said bloodsuckers don't like shape-shifters."
"They're not fond of hunters either, but here I am," she responds looking at him through her simple, black mask that covers her entire face only leaving beautifully carved openings for her eyes and lips. Her eyes are a little bit unfriendly, slightly squeezed and colder than normal. To him, they state that it's not time to complain about social roles and supernatural racism and she's right they must focus elsewhere.
YoonGi keeps silent since their eyes are captivated by the glory of the grand foyer of the manor. Before them unfolds a set of polished wooden staircases that lead up to the second story of the manor. The floors are made of white marble and there's details of the color gold all around the walls whether that be it with the small vintage lights- three on each side, following the stairs- or with the glorious crystal chandelier -with golden details- that towers over everyone from the ceiling and hangs right atop a small round table with a golden vase or gold flowers in the middle of the room.
"Wow...," Y/N sighs at the wonderment, "I had a feeling they were wealthy but that much?"
"They tend to flex, now stop drooling and walk, they're staring at us," YoonGi nudges her and with a shake of her head, she straightens her posture and together they walk further inside. If one thought that the Gold details were too much in the foyer- they should not walk inside the living room area; All the indoor columns of the complex ionic order are circled by fairy lights of color; yes, you guessed it; Gold. It's full of people; wearing suits and gowns regardless of gender and masks either simple or extravagant.
"Where's the orgy you were talking about? Things seem pretty fancy here."
"Things are usually like that 'till the witching hour," YoonGi responds, "It's rather symbolic."
"Huh?" her eyebrows are furrowed and her eyes express confusion only for it to change into realization a second later, "Oh, Like...everyone is pretending to be mortal, which explains the mask, you're hiding your true identities and mannerisms and when the witching hour hits...y' all show your true selves?"
"Pretty much," YoonGi shrugs.
"Isn't that kind of false though? I mean, not every supernatural creature is into all those things that take place after the witching hour."
"I guess it's more of a custom and what mortals have tagged us as. But better leave the history and culture trips for another time, there's JaYu," he points his head further in the room towards what appears to be a small stage with a band dressed in gold, of course.
