“Oh my god guys this is amazing but I will never be able to afford all of this! And I don’t want you all paying for me for the rest of my life.” I told them looking around the massive apartment.
It was so beautiful! It had a huge living room with a connected kitchen. The kitchen was massive with everything I needed, to cook for my boys and even more. And it had one of those islands with barstools. There were three bedrooms and the master bedroom had a massive walk in closet. And then there were two bathrooms and the best of all it had a balcony and you could look all over the city! And there was a massive garden with a massive pool. I was in heaven but I could never let the guys pay for it.
“Well we will obviously come and visit you from time to time. So it will be for us too and I see how happy this makes you so you have no chance. We are buying it!” Damian said and the guy that showed us around had a massive smile on his face.
It was completely furnished and I didn’t actually have anything I would like to change.
“Wait, Damian I have a question. What about animals? Am I allowed to keep them in here?” I asked.
“Of course, I’m buying this thing; you can do whatever the fuck you want!” Damian said grinning at me and I rolled my eyes.
Secretly in my head I was jumping up and down like a kid in a candy store. But I didn’t show it until that guy left us with the keys in Damian’s hand. Then I ran to him and jumped on him.
“Thank you Thank you Thank you!” I yelled and he grinned while wrapping his arms around me.
“So you want to get an animal? What were you thinking about?” Zeke asked me.
“I thought maybe I’d get a puppy?” I asked them looking at them with big eyes.
“What sort of puppy would you like to have?” Jaden asked me.
“I don’t know I would actually like a dog or maybe even two who are able to protect me with everything that’s going on.” I told them.
“Well a puppy won’t do you any good but I know someone who might be able to help you with the protecting part.” Damian told me and we all got up and went out of the apartment.
“What, do you want to do that now?” I asked Damian.
“Yes, why not we will drop of Jaden and Zeke so they can pack up all of your stuff because they are so god damn nice. And we will go doggie hunting.” Damian said grinning and Zeke and Jaden groaned.
“I can do it on my own! They don’t have to pack anything.” I told Damian, feeling bad for them.
“No that’s okay they lost a bet last night and they owe me. Oh and boys don’t forget to get my stuff too. I’m moving in until you get your driving license.” Damian said and with that we made our way to the car.
I didn’t say a word and just followed them to the car. Damian drove towards the house and dropped off the two boys they were both grumbling on and on about having to pack our stuff.
“I didn’t join this Gang to pack fucking clothes.” Zeke growled out and suddenly I felt Damian snap beside me.
He jumped out of the car and I saw him pull out his gun. He pushed Zeke against the car and put the gun under his chin pushing it up.
“You really need to watch your fucking mouth Zeke and this is the last warning. I told you yesterday you are getting way to comfortable for your own good. You may be my friend but in the Gang I still stand above you so if I tell you to do something then you will do as I say. Am I making myself clear?” Damian growled out and I jumped out of the car.
I tried pulling Damian away from Zeke. “Damian, come on stop it please.” I begged him.
He then turned around to glare at me.
“Don’t get involved Mia. Get back in the car.” Damian told me seriously.
“But I…” He cut me off. “I’m saying this one last time. Get in the fucking car Mia.” He growled out and I pulled back and went back into the car.
Damian was scaring the shit out of me right now. I didn’t dare look outside when I heard a thump and Zeke groan. A few seconds later the door on the driver side opened and Damian got inside. I kept my eyes on my hands and didn’t dare look at him. He didn’t say anything either at first.
“You need to stay out of our business Mia. I love you but if you try to interfere when I’m handling something as the right hand of the boss then you need to stay out of it. No one will take me seriously if I let someone else tell me what to do except for Keith. And that includes you. I don’t want to harm you in any way and I won’t if you don’t pull something like that again. But I will if I have to, do you understand?” This time he looked at me.
“Okay” I whispered and he nodded.
Somehow I understood what he was trying to say. He did have to hold up a reputation. And I knew that he meant what he said. He wouldn’t hurt me if he didn’t have to. But he would once I pushed him.
“Why did you have to do that?” I asked him.
Damian sighed. “Since Zeke’s sister died he has been getting more reckless and his respect for me and Keith has gotten less over the years. He is a good friend but if he keeps going like this then at one point it will be too much.” Damian said and my eyes widened.
“What happens if he oversteps the boundary?” I whispered.
“We’ll get rid of him.” Damian said and I swallowed hard.
I didn’t say anything for quite a while and just looked out the window. We were driving out of the city and after some time we came up to a small cottage. Damian stopped the car and when we got out I could hear dogs barking.
“Where are we?” I asked Damian.
“You wanted a dog right?” He asked me and I got really excited. I grinned at him and then followed him to the door. When he knocked a guy opened. He was tall and big and I shrunk back behind Damian.
“Damian, long time no see old friend come inside. Who is the lovely lady?” The guy asked and winked at me.
“Marcello, this is Amelia. We came to have a look at your dogs.” Damian said and Marcello stepped to the side to let us through.
“So you want a dog now?” Marcello asked once we walked into the living room.
There were a few Stafford shire terriers that were sat on the floor, looking at us expectantly but not moving an inch.
“It’s more for Amelia. I want a dog or maybe two who are able to protect her if needed.” Damian told Marcello and he nodded.
“Have you ever had dogs?” Marcello asked me and I shook my head.
He looked at me with a raised eyebrow. “Cat got your tongue?” Marcello asked me.
“I’ve never had a dog before no.” I told him after finding back my confidence.
“Oh so she does speak.” Marcello said grinning widely at me.
Suddenly I didn’t feel awkward anymore, he made me feel comfortable.
“Yes I do. Sorry but you are such a small little guy I was too stunned to say anything.” I said grinning.
A booming laugh went through the living room and Damian grinned at me.
“She is funny man where did you get her from?” Marcello asked and I stiffened.
“It’s a long story.” Damian said.
Marcello looked like he knew that something was wrong but he didn’t ask any further.
“Alright then, how about we go have a look outside and I will tell you a little bit about my dogs.” Marcello said and suddenly Damian’s phone started ringing.
“I’ll be right back.” Damian said and I nodded.
Following Marcello outside I was stunned to see what was behind the house. There were a lot of canals with mostly Staffordshire terriers. There were a few others too.
“Right, all the dogs here were raised by me, trained by me and I will be the one deciding if you are worth getting one of my baby’s.” Marcello told me and I grinned at him. He smiled a genuine smile. “So, I don’t know why you need a dog for protection but I want you to know that I don’t train my dogs to be some sort of killing machine. I train them to be loyal and a best friend. When they are treated well they will protect you if needed. They don’t listen to any commands you throw at them to go and charge at someone. So if that is what you want then there’s the door.” He told me pointing at the door.
I grinned at him widely.
“I like your way of thinking and working. I don’t want a killing machine. I just want to feel a little safer. I’m moving out on my own and I don’t want to be alone all the time.” I told him and he smiled.
“Then you are more than welcome to get two of my dogs.” Marcello said smiling. “Come on I’ll show you some of the dogs. I think I know exactly who will be absolutely perfect for you.” He told me and started walking towards a canal further into the garden. There were two dogs in there.
“These are Salvatore and Rocky they are two brothers and about a year old now. I would only hand them off if they stay together. They are inseparable they are trained very well so you don’t have to worry. Salvatore is a blue brindle and Syros a Blue Fawn. They don’t have the same mother but they do have the same dad. He is my price possession. Let me just let them out, do you know how to greet a dog?” Marcello asked me.
“You are supposed to ignore them at first right?” I asked him, thinking about the show with Cesar Millan.
“That’s correct.” Marcello said grinning. “I will let them out now.” He said.
They immediately came towards me and sniffed me but didn’t start to jump me or anything. I was in love! They were so cute but a little intimidating at the same time.
“Right now you can actually say them hello.” Marcello told me and I started patting them.
Marcello disappeared and I went down to my knees when they both turned on to their back and put their feet in the air so I could scratch their bellies. When Marcello came back he had a ball with him and gave it to me.
“Just throw it.” He told me. And that I did.
