Janessa felt completely uncomfortable as she stood there in civilian clothing. She was back home on American soil and already the sailor longed to be back over seas. Her eyes flicker over the pictures that hung on the wall. Many of them consisted of Jessica and her--with the two always being together. That's when things got dicey between the sisters. Originally the two had planned on going to college together with Jessica going to become a nurse practitioner and Janessa becoming a lawyer. Though that all changed on September 11, 2001; the attack on the World Trade Centers. Seeing the horrible sights on television awakened something in the reckless Moore, a calling to protect those who cannot protect themselves. Not even thinking in telling Jessica at first, Janessa signed up the next morning with permission from Mr. Moore who he himself was a veteran. Then the hard part came; telling her big sister. The look of betrayal on Jessica's face was still very etched in Janessa's mind and the pleas of--
"Janessa, honey?" called out Mrs. Moore.
Snapping her head in the direction her name was called, Janessa puts all her attention on her mother. "Yeah, Ma?" She walks over to the kitchen table to join both her parents. Janessa should've known something was up the moment she sat down.
April Moore took her youngest daughter's hands into her own with a look on her face, a look she shared with her husband. "She misses you."
A sigh escaped the sailor and before she could respond, Richard joins in. "Talk to her jellybean, I know you miss her too." He reassures his daughter.
"You guys," Janessa let out a small scoff and sits back in her seat. "you heard what she said to me. She never wanted--"
Being the stubborn woman she can be, Janessa just let it at that and obeyed Jessica's wishes despite it leaving a nasty pain in her chest. Once in the Navy though, Janessa kept tabs on her sweet older sister. She had went on to the college the twins spoke of together and even gotten into a serious relationship with a fellow student there of the name Sam Winchester. She was going to get the picture perfect life her sister always had dreamed of since they were little girls.
"Janessa, please." it was April's turn to speak on this matter.
"No." the sailor's voice firm. Pulling her hand's away from her mother, Janessa rose out of her seat. "I am respecting Jessica's wishes and that's that." The blonde goes to grab her leather jacket with her back now facing her parents.
"But that doesn't stop you from checking up on her." Richard revealed. This stumped Janessa, 'How the hell did he know?' she thought. She turns around to face him. "I maybe an old man, Nessie, but I know you and I still have ties to our nation's security."
It then clicked in her mind when he said those words. Her mentor and Commanding Officer Junior Winston. A friend of the family and a man who served along with Richard. "I should've known." mumbled Janessa. She then went quit knowing she had been defeated. "Fine, so what if I have been? Jess said nothing about that."
It was now her Father's turn to scoff at her words with a sly smirk on his face. "Leave it to you to find a loop hole, Ness."
Shaking her head at the old man's words Janessa put's on her dark leather jacket and left the house. She had nothing more to say to her parents on this matter. It was something that only Jessica and her can fix.
