I woke up from a dream that I wished never started.
It was a plain white room which seemed to have no end. There were people standing around dressed in gowns and suits. Men and women mingling with one another, laughing but no sound coming out. I was there but I wasn't wearing anything close to their lavish attire. Simply put...I looked like someone threw me in a dumpster then took me out again after a week.
I scanned the vast, blank space, bumping into people but they didn't even seem to notice.
"What the hell..." I murmured to myself.
There, in the centre of all the other people, was my mother. She stood dressed in a long, lavish looking silk dress. Her hair was pinned up in a bunch at the crown of her head and she had a glass of what looked like champagne in her delicate hand.
There was a man standing across from her but she was blocking his face. I began walking towards her, calling out for her but she didn't hear me. I began jogging and felt as if I wasn't getting any closer. I felt a strong urge to cry but I held back the stinging tears.
Finally as I got closer to them I saw who it was. I stopped in my tracks and a loud gasp escaped my mouth.
It was my dad.
"D-daddy?" It was almost an inaudible whisper but it filled my head.
There he was, my dad dressed in a smart black suit. His chestnut hair almost shining in the white light. His beautiful hazel eyes that carried so much joy and love.
I felt a tear escape and trickle down my cheek, the feeling of it's warmth discomforting. I ran up to him and encapsulated his body in a bear hug.
"Daddy!" I yelped. "I missed you so much." I was crying now.
He didn't even notice me.
I turn to my mother, watching as she looked to be in deep conversation with dad but no sound would come out.
"Mom?" I whimpered helplessly, "Daddy?" I faced him.
I waved my hands in his face, shook him by the arms and even pinched his cheeks. Nothing. They didn't see me. I let out a stifled sob and looked at him, caressing his soft cheek.
"I love you...so much," I whispered. "I miss you every day."
"What about me?" A voice interjected.
I whipped my head to the side to see the person behind it but no one was there who I recognized.
"You don't miss me, Lea?" Said the voice again, now from a new location. "How could you think about breaking our promise?"
I froze. "...Aiden?"
"You forgot about me, Lea."
"No, no I didn't. Aiden, please," I pleaded, my tears hot and rapid. "I would never forget about you."
"But you want to." His voice was laced with malice.
"No, Aiden. I would never, I promise." I was spinning in circles, almost losing my footing.
"Liar!"
Then I woke up, practically screaming with sadness. Tears had stained my cheeks and caused them to feel like they were being lit on fire.
I feverishly wiped my face as I sat up on the edge of my bed. I looked at the time and was shocked to see 4:38AM, printed on my pink clock.
"No more chocolate before bed." I told myself.
