The day went by smoothly and quicker than expected; one minute Sawyer was sat in a humid classroom doodling on his work and the next he was walking home in the rain.

Usually his foster mother would come to pick him up, but today - of all days - she was in a meeting. So here he found himself, scowling at the wet concrete under his school shoes. It wasn't that he disliked walking home, sure, it was long but the scenery made it all worth it.

Birdsong and desperate cries of small critters - most likely soaked - makes their way to his ears and he expels a soft sigh.

"Sawyer? What are you doing out in the rain?" Calls a feminine voice from behind him. He glances over his shoulder and sees one of his mothers old school friends, Daena, with an elegant navy blue umbrella over her greying hair. Sawyer smiles softly at the woman, turning to face her.

"Taeyeon is in a meeting, I think she might be getting a promotion," he replies with a faint but still visible glint of pride in his light eyes. Daena nods with a large grin, pride fully showing in her eyes.

"That's my Yonnie. How is little Sunny getting home?"

"Went home early, I got a text from him at lunch."

It was true, the boy was sent home after he threw up in class; poor thing. Daena frowns but remains silent, instead holding the umbrella out to the tall boy and glancing up at the angry clouds.

"The rain is getting worse, you'll catch a cold."

"What about you?"

"I live two roads away, I'll be okay," she says reassuringly. Then, they share a farewell hug and continue on their ways; Sawyer turning back around and walking straight on and Daena crossing the road and heading down a side street.

At least he wouldn't get home soaked.
