eleven years ago the citys' people discovered their govermentments betrayel and dishonesty so they hatched a plan, a plan to escape to some place else and start over. June fourteenth was the date, every thing was ready i rememer my mother holding my hand and reasuring me that everything would be okay,But everything wasn't okay hundreds died including my mother and my best frind mike who I'd known my whole life. I had happened so quikley one might think it a dream. the whole city was running through the forest almost a whole hour into the journey when the shots started I screamed with horror as my mother fell to the forest floor dead. I cried and wishd I was back in my bed at home while my mother told my a story and my father hummed me to sleep, but those days were gone as soon as we opened that front door all those years ago.
The sun was setting quickly and the waves were finally settling down for the night. I threw on my sandals and headed for home. We live at 105 St. Chesapeake lane in the old Victorian house. It wasn't much though the siding was pealing with age and the gate was rusted and squeaked when you opened it. Hurriedly I open and close the front door to keep the fall air out. father would be in bed by now I inched my way across the mahogany floors to my room, the sent of jasmine laces my room in honor of my deceased mother who loved the sent just thinking of her brings tears to my eyes, I lay on my bed staring up at the ceiling as I finally drift into sleep.
when I awoke the sun was shining through my window I look to my alarm clock which reads 9:02 AM "Crap! I'm late." I say to no one in particuar. Racing into the livingroom I attempt to brushing my burnette hair into a bun with my fingers. I barely had given myself enough time to eat a honey bun and drink a cup of hazzlenut coffee before im running down the street. Luckily I only work a couple blocks a way at the fitness center, I'm a life guard who was a tendancy to run a bit late. The best part about my job is being surrounded by the sound of splashing water, because for some reason it calms me. I walk to my watch post, but before I can Climb up my manager blocks my way " Thats the third time you've been late this month Sasha, don't let it happen again, or you risk me having to terminate you from your job, understand" I sigh "Yes I understand margeret." Margerat is the kind of person that get under your skin and makes you feel icky after every converation with her, she lives on the north part of town where all the wealthy live, her mom is on the board of directors and isn't home most hours of the day, so to make it up to her she spoiles margeret to death basically her wish is her command.
As the hours slowly pass by my stomach reminds me what is was like to starve thousands of years ago during the famine, thank haven the lunch bell couldn't have rang at a better time, as I get up my best friend Kay races over to me " Okay Sasha don't freak out, but I got us sold out tickets to the VIP grand opening of that new mall on the north side that has the archary store that you wanted to go to!" I look at her wide eyed " You didn't, you couldn't have!" she looks at me with a big grin on her face " I did." i sqeel with excitment we walk into the lunch hall and join every body else i grab by sack lunch out of my cuby, a turkey sandwitch and some chips the only thing we really can afford right now. I quikely eat my food so my stomach will stop yelling at me, but all too soon the bell rings again.
I sigh as i disdribute my weight back into the chair, two children are yelling and laughing as they splash and dunk each other. I can't remember having that kind of fun or any of that matter at their age, because i've always had my mothers death burned into my mind. I'm snapped back into reality as i hear a sharp whistle shot through the room one of the kids had blacked out from holding their breathe for to long, as I leap into the water I see mareret giving me a disaproving look she still has the whistle in her mouth from when she blew just a moment ago. the other child a girl is crying telling one of my assosiates what had happened, I pick up the limp body of the other child " still breathing." that good I thought to myself I walk outside where the emerency truck is waiting I still have no idea how they got here so fast. The driver gets out and walks towards me, and takes to child towards the back of the truck to secure him into a strecher, I see margerat motioning me to come inside which i do. This time she lets me pass without a word, but the glare's still there.
