Chan and I haven't interacted since the strange eye contact a few days ago at the game.
But it's not like I care.
It's Monday practice after our home game, and I'm feeling pumped.
Not because the band is playing well,
And not because it's a good tic day,
No,
It's all because for the first time in my sophomore career,
That Christopher Bang hasn't made a total fool out of me!
Yeah, maybe it was just for the Friday game, but a boy can be hopeful, right?
—
Well, I was dead wrong.
In fact, it's probably worse than it's ever been.
Because today, we're adding our sound effects to the show.
And the sound effects in the third movement, blatantly, are the worst things that could have possibly happened.
Now you may ask, "why is that so, jeongin?"
Well, certain sensory tics exist within me.
And some are bad.
And these sound effects are the worst.
To describe it, they sound like what one could describe as computer epilepsy.
Not joking. Phones ringing, amber alert, Nokia ringing, fire alarms, they're all going off at once.
I stand right in front of the speaker.
Wanna know what this causes?
Seizures.
The sound effects give me seizures.
Thank god the rest of the band isn't here and it's only a percussion field practice, But the stares I'm getting arent very pleasant.
Another issue is, I didn't drink any coffee.
Now, my options are usually be unbearably tired and tic less, or drink caffeine and be unbearably anxious and tic infested.
I took the first option today. So I'm understandably exhausted. And guess what else is exhausting? Tic attacks.
It was only just not we discovered the results of the sound effects, and my attack subsided. And there's only so many more of those I can take before I shut down.
I'm crouching on the field now, catching my breath.
Certain band members try to feed me water, some ask if I'm okay, and some just.. watch.
But I heave a bit more, then pull myself together.
I insist I'm okay, and begin to explain what exactly just happened.
But as I do. Giggling and shuffling becomes more and more apparent behind me.
"Hah! Hehe.. Holy smokes!" Chan's bass friend chuckles.
I just slump in my stance, and I watch justin look up with a glare.
"Woojin. You'll be sitting out this practice. Put your bass down and get in the stands." He orders in a monotone voice, and I smile a bit seeing him actually get some sort of punishment.
But as it does, practice continues and we do our warm ups with drumline. We do a few reps of our 2nd movement, drums practicing drill, until we feel it's set for the show.
"Alight!" Justin smiles, turning around to grab the drums attention.
"I think we need to start running third movement again!" He suggests, and while everyone else is compliant, I feel myself begin to shake so slightly.
"Oh, what's wrong, Jeongin?" Chan says softly, and I jump with a few curses as I didn't realize he and the rest of drumline came to listen to justin's instructions behind me.
"Ttss- nothing— hm!" I insist, shaking my head and stomping the ground.
He doesn't laugh, but only looks at me with a straight face.
Scary.
Hot.
Wait, what?
Before I can fully scare myself with my previous thought, I'm mortified to hear justin order a test on the sound effects.
"Wait—!" I call, but it's too late. The freshman has already light heartedly started the sounds, and with just a few rings I feel as if someone's pushing and shoving my body.
But nobody's there.
I decide to take cover by wrapping my arms around my neck, bearing my teeth and squinting my eyes while I embarrassingly throw myself around.
Once the sounds are done and over, I catch my breath by leaning against the thing nearest to me.
If only I had realized that it's Chan's drum.
I do though when it slides out from under me, and I look up to see Chan looking at me questionably.
"What the fuck was that?" He asks, but it's not exactly with a typical aggressive and cynical tone, but rather it came out with assertiveness where I knew I couldn't answer snarkily.
"It's.. the sound effects" I comply in with a pout, hoping he could maybe go easy after seeing the vicious affects.
"Oh." He said bluntly, though I'm not really sure how he took it.
I sure do know though when I'm suddenly on the ground.
CHAN POV
I don't know what came over me.
It's not like I wanted him to hate me,
I just wanted to do it.
But now, I wish I didn't.
Without thought, my feet took me to the sound station, turned the volume all the way up(which is basically hell), and started the sound effects.
And now, Jeongin is on his knees, holding his ears over his head as he jerks violently.
And at first, I can only watch with a blank face.
No one else is moving, either. It's dead silent other than the blares of the speaker.
But then it's broken by sobs coming from Jeongin.
And then finally, it hits me.
What the fuck is wrong with me?
I stop the noises right at I think it, and run around the equipment to Jeongin.
But as I turn around all the stuff, he's gone limp.
I throw myself onto the ground, and flip him over, holding his upper body up with my forearms.
My eyes itch when I see what I've done.
His face is as red as fire, and he looks at me with dead eyes as his body finally exhausts, his eyes rolling into the back of his head as they close.
And I scream.
This is so sad I'm sorry I swear it won't be so angsty soon ;-;
