After we had eaten together, I asked Granny to tell me a story. She chuckled and told me about the time she sky-dove in New Zealand, a story I had heard before but still enjoyed.

She shushed me away after, telling me to "live life or whatever you teenagers do", so I went over to Harry and Gemmas place as promised.

I only had to knock twice before Gemma opened the door only to shut it immediatley again. I sighed, realizing she was still faking her anger at me and went to the other side of the house, using the never locked back entrance.

"Gem?" I shouted into the hallway.

"I don't talk to traitors."

"Do you talk to traitors that want to redeem themselves?"

She was silent for a second, then appeared from behind the corner: "Maybe."

"Great," I smiled maliciously, "because I have the perfect idea."

-

After having discussed our war plan, we silently snuck upstairs, trying our best to maintain our giggles but it was near impossible. And our grand master plan needed us to be quiet or else it would fail miserably.

And fail it did.

Instead of spooking Harry with a surprise attack, he got us because he suddenly turned around the corner.

"Booh!" and I kid you not, both Gemma and I jumped so high, it hurt to fall. And all Harry did was laugh.

"This isn't funny." Gemma exclaimed, rubbing her bruised back.

"I'm sorry, but it really, really is." Harry splurted out between laughs.

"Oh well," I interrupted their conversation, "who's up for movie night?"

-

"Sooo, how's big ol' Harper doing in New York?" Gemma asked, sitting down on Harrys sofa, prepping a cussion behind her still hurting back.

I plunged myself onto Harry's bed, burying myself under his pillows: "It's like, I thought it was stressful to live with her under the same roof but it is even more stressful to calm her down over the phone every day because something is always going wrong."

As if she heard us, my phone rang. I fished it out of my pocket and sighed: "Speaking of the devil. Hi Harps, what's up?" I sat up to talk properly.

"You wouldn't believe what happened to me today, Darls, I'm gonna cry, not kidding." she sounded tired.

"Harps, if this city life is stressing you out so much, why live it?"

"When did you become so wise?"

"Must be all the time with Grandma."

Harper went silent on the other end of the line.

"Oh come on, Harps, just because she's ill doesn't mean we can't talk about her." I bit my lip nervously, because this conversation was taking a turn I wasn't prepared for. In the two years Granny had been sick, I don't think I've heard Harper talk about it once.

"I know Darls, it's just weird."

"Well, what did happen to you today?" Gemma looked at me, pitying me through her eyes and I had to smile.

"It's nothing actually, I just, I dont know, Darls, it's hard." I could hear her sigh, "I don't get that this is your dream life."

"It's not. That's exactly the opposite, never for the life of me, am I going to stay at any place long enough to be tired of it." All of a sudden, both Gemma and Harry were very busy doing anything but looking at me curiously as they did before.

"Isn't that exactly what you're doing now?"

"Okay, when did you become so wise?" I laughed it off, she hit the jackpot.

"Alright, Darls, I gotta go, love you, bye."

"Love you too." then she hung up.

The thing with me and my sister is this: as much as we were always fighting just as siblings did, we also were inseparable and stood up for each other, even though there were three years between us. But it had become harder with the distance, because I knew Harper was a family person, who wasn't made for a life of travelling and moving and being away from her safe haven for too long would evetually drain all the energy. But if I ever said that to her, she'd be angry at me for not believing in her, so I do my best.

I put away my phone facing both Harry and Gemma: "Sorry you had to witness that."

They both sent me a reassuring smile.

"It's alright, Lee, nothing to apologize for." Gemma soothingly stated, "I mean, we both know about you and Harper, it's no secret."

And then suddenly it hit me and I don't know why, but everything I had been holding back for the last couple days just bursted out of me in form of ugly sobs. Gemma rushed forward to embrace in a warm hug.

"I'm really sorry but can we skip movie night this week, I don't really feel like it today."

"Of course, sweetie, of course. Do you want me to walk you home?" Gemma whispered.

I weakly shook my head, hugged both her and Harry and then I left.

I don't know what had come over me, it wasn't like me at all to cry in front of other people. And, yes, I' ve known both Harry and Gemma all my life but it still felt weird.

"Hey, Lee, wait up!" a familiar voice shouted behind me.

When I turned around Harry was running towards me in a large hoodie, his curls jumping up and down, causing me to smile.

"I told you I didn't need an escort."

He skidded to a stop next to me and ran a hand through his hair: "Yeah, I know but I still felt bad for letting you walk all alone."

I just sighed and kept walking, Harry following immediatley.

"You know, I'm not Gemma, but you can still talk to me if you want." he sounded a little nervous which I really couldn't understand.

"I know, it's just-" I let out a frustrated groan, "I've never been good with words, you'd think I'd be after hearing Granny talk all my life but I just can't."

Instead of saying something Harry put his arm around my shoulder and pulled me close.

"No one's rushing you. Take all the time you need, okay?"

I nodded, feeling myself relax against his side.

"Thanks."
