I walked through the door and immediately met your gaze. You smiled & I broke it.
I start thinking " why do we always do that ? " We always look but never speak. I hear my name called from behind so I turned around to find that the voice was coming from Jada .
My girlfriend ,
Jada. For the first time , James & Jada were going to be In The same place , at the same time , With me right in the middle of them.
The funny thing was ... They had no clue who one another was. Well I guess it wasn't a funny thing. I sit down in between them and shoot a quick smile in James's direction. Jada grabs my hand and looks at me . She's livid i know .
" What was that ?! " she says after seeing me smile James's way. " Nothing babe. I was just smiling" . She responds in an aggressive whisper " NO ! That was more than just a smile Jaylen. I know that smile & it's not just any smile. You like someone in this room." . " Jada you're loosing your mind. It was just a smile. A regular old basic smile"
She let's go of my hand and crosses her arms " You don't have to lie .... I know he's somewhere in here " . With a look of total shock I respond " who's he ? " . " DONT .. Play games with me .. James , that's who " .
My gaze goes from totally aware to absolutely distant . I could feel a single bead Of sweat beginning to form on my forehead as I continue to play dumb about the situation .
" James isn't here Jada . Even if he was I wouldn't care . I told you that we don't even talk anymore " . She looks at me and smiles right before she grabs my face and kisses me .
I try to act natural but I can feel James watching me from two seats down . I can feel him burning into me with his stare that's filled with anger , jealousy , and disgust. From the corner of my eye I see him get up from his seat. He begins walking in my direction and out of pure panic I start to kiss Jada so she won't be obligated to bother us.
That didn't stop him. My biggest fear was happening .
As James stood in front Of me Jada stops kissing me and says " Well , Can we help you ? " . I could feel my throat closing up . Is he about to introduce himself ? Is he about to tell Jada who he really is ?
" Um , you're leg is my way & I need to get through " James says . I could see his eyes turning red & beginning to water. I could tell that he was trying his hardest not to make eye contact with me .
I was relived but hurt. Relieved because he didn't reveal his identity but hurt because he knew exactly who Jada was. I was hurting him , again. Just when I started to relax my muscles as he began to walk away he said " You must be Jada ? "
My eyes grew wide . I looked away . Jada grabbed my hand tighter as she felt me starting to shake.
" Yes , I am . And you are ? " .
I was hoping and praying to every god at the moment . Hoping he wouldn't say who he was . Me and James made eye contact and I saw the tears about to fall out .
" I'm Ja .. " that's all he could get out before I started having an asthma attack .
I ran outside , inhaler in hand and Jada followed .
I stood on the balcony holding the railing and trying to catch my breath. I feel Jada's arms hugging my waist from behind . Her cold hands under my shirt on my stomach.
" Are you alright baby ? " I can feel her tears through my shirt as she rests her head on my back. Still unable to speak , I nod my head right before turning around to hug her . I squeeze her tight & whisper in her ear
" I'm so sorry " . Her reply " it's okay . Iknow exactly who that was. " We stood there hugging & kissing for what felt like forever before she grabbed my hand and led me to her car.
" I'll take you home tonight. We'll come back first thing in the morning to get your motorcycle" I stop her mid sentence " stay the night " . Looking up at me , she says nothing but " Please get in the car " .
As we pull off I can see James in the rearview mirror
"Jada stop the car " ......
