Y/N grabbed the report card from her teacher's hands and muttered a small thanks. Her feet carried her to the doorway as a smile slowly formed on her face.
She pulled the bag straps on her shoulders even tighter, there was a skip in her step as she strolled through the corridor.
Her heart thudded excitedly in her chest at the thought of being able to go home to do whatever she wanted in peace. Now that school's over, the pile of unread books in her room would no longer be collecting dust.
She saw the school entrance from a distance and an even wider smile stretched her lips. She bolted into a run.
It was getting closer. Closer. Closer and clo–
Her small figure crashed hard into someone and she almost falls on her back. Her arms shot out from her sides, stumbling a few more steps before finally regaining her balance.
With wide E/C eyes she looked up to apologize to whomever she bumped into. A whimper escaped her lips when she realized who it was.
Henry Bowers.
Henry's eyes were set ablaze with fury, he stepped forward and growled at her. "Are you blind?!"
She wasn't usually scared of Henry, sometimes even daring to spit back insults. But after last time, Y/N couldn't help but feel slightly intimidated by him.
"And here I thought pushing you down a flight of stairs would knock some sense into you."
Y/N knew it was a bad time to be a smart ass, and probably a great time to start running. So she felt like whacking herself on the head when she started speaking before she could stop herself.
"Thinking never really was your thing, Bowers."
"What did you say?" Henry's eyes were glaring down at her.
There was something in her gut that kept telling her to turn back around and run for it. Unfortunately, she knew that trying to hide from Henry after saying the things she said would do no good.
"Let me translate it for you." Y/N gritted her teeth. "You're a moron."
A jolt of surprise tore from her body when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She whipped her head to the side to meet Belch Huggins' disturbing smile.
Before she could shrug off the hand, she was shoved back harshly into Belch.
"Don't talk back to me, you fucking whore!" Henry lunged at her with his fists.
She tried to dodge but her arms were held back by Belch. She received a punch on the side of her face and stifled back a yelp of pain.
Footsteps can be heard from a distance, they steadily got louder and louder as they got closer. Seeing that neither Henry nor Belch moved, it must've been Victor Criss who was approaching.
"Starting without me?" A voice asked, which she recognized to be indeed Victor Criss'.
Oddly enough, Victor had always been quite nice to her. Or at least, 'nice' in his own way.
He'd throw an insult or two but never has he laid his hands on her. She figured Victor had a sense of mercy and some heart left in him, though he rarely shows and uses it.
Nonetheless, he's still an asshole – or a coward. After all, he does nothing to stop Henry and Belch from what they're doing.
Henry threw another punch, hitting her on the right shoulder. The yelp of pain she'd been holding back earlier came tumbling out of her lips.
