He was running. He was running as fast as he could as he smelled the bitter smell of burning wood filling up his lungs making it harder for him to breath. His hand grasped Michael's as he started to run out of breath. inching closer to coughing so hard he though is throat would burst. He had nothing on his mind. He just ran and ran, he knew they were long too gone, and that was the only reason he didn't mind. It was too late to save them already.

Why had the house burned? was his only question. It couldn't have been a suicide. His parents were perfectly healthy. Accidental arson? Murder? So many things behind one question lingering his mind "Will I die?" he asked. He worried more about his own self being than Michael's and he knew that. He wasn't like this. He had always been the person to always give empathy to people. The sensitive kid. But today, he had a selfish ego. Only wishing the best for himself. But he didn't want to feel like that. No, he was psychologically confused.

Then everything slowed down. He had stopped running. His adrenaline had given out, just one burst. One burst of energy, barely enough to get far away from the fire - y ashes. He glanced behind him, looking at Michael's face. The shocked look on his face was something Noah had never seen before. Dilated eyes,  a shocked expression. He had looked like he'd eaten a poisoned apple picked off  a tree in the garden of Eden. The rock hard regret he had in his eyes. He never said goodbye to his loving parents. But it was too late. They were gone. Reduced to atoms, or more like ashes.

"Are you okay?" Noah asked

    "I don't know."

"Yes you do. Snap out of it. We have to find a place to sleep for now."

"Please don't be like this, i don't want to think. Not now."

"Why not"

"You're pushing me to a limit."

"No i'm not."

   "Yes you are"

"No. Whatever we're doing right now concerns us. Not spreading ashes, alright?"

  "yes."

   "We're not spreading ashes"
