Was I high? Was this a dream? No, this surely isn't a dream... Where is Jake? Mom? All sorts of questions were swirling inside her insignificant brain. She didn't even realize she was in the hospital right now."Oh god you woke up finally!" a deep soothing voice which she had heard before exclaimed. She couldn't see anything clearly. The world seemed so blurry from her vision. She tried rubbing her eyes but noticed that her hands were attached to an intravenous and her body felt quite heavy and restless.
Suddenly she heard the doors open and a doctor entered along with a person. She had finally managed to focus on what she was seeing. She began to recall. The person with the doc was Jake. She even guessed him through her hazy eyes because a tall man with a muscular body and fairly lit skin with deep brown hair could only be Jake because he was the only person she found so attractive around her. He was a adorable guy in his 20's. Also the best friend and colleague of Scarlet.
Yes, Scarlet Johnson. A 23 year old, or should I say 23 year young, aspiring and a self-contained girl. Working in a normal media company with a salary which is inconsiderable to be discussed. But although she has low income she enjoys her work in the company because of the blissful atmosphere at her workplace which is quite rare to find.
The doctor checked her pulse and some of the machines kept around to see if she was in a normal condition. Her throat was dry. She asked the nurse for water. She had forgotten how to speak. So dizzy, so uneasy. She heard the doctor say to Jake that's she was completely safe now.
She drank the water after the nurse helping her to rise a bit from her bed so that she doesn't choke herself while she drank. She was conscious now. Aware of everything happening around. After the doctor left Jake sat next to Scarlet's bed, held her hands and gave her gentle caress.
"Everything is fine now babe. It's all over. I'm with you don't worry" he said with a protective tone.
"What had happened to me?" she asked.
"You were unconscious for like 3 days because of shock. The doctor had dreadfully made assumptions of you being in coma. But then other specialists gave me assurances of you recovering soon. I've been beside you all this time. I was so bored thank goodness you're finally awake" he said everything seriously except the last thing in a cheeky way because he's never serious.
"Did I accomplish it? Is it really all over? Am I the same normal Scarlet again? Oh please tell me?"
"Yes sweetheart. You're a survivor. My brave girl" Jake said and gave her hand a firm hold.
It all began in June. When she lost her phone while coming back home. Maybe she forgot it in the bus she took. It was an exhausting day for her.
She was so ignorant about losing her phone hat she just came back home without even bothering and slept. She stayed with only her mother who made handicrafts for some extra income. Her father had died in a car accident along with her uncle. Since then Scarlet and her Mother were the only support for each other. Life seemed tough after her fathers death when she was just 13 years old.
After a nap for an hour or so she woke up. It was almost 9:00 pm till then. Her mom was an understanding lady and she never used to disturb her sleep by asking irrelevant questions. She knew her daughter was tired and needed sleep. Obvious reasons.
Her house was not a spacious one but it was big enough for the two. She went out and feeling the hunger pangs in her stomach asked her mom for food like a small kid. Watching her mom still busy preparing the food she told her mom that she was going out to take a stroll by the time she finished cooking.
As she walked through the Clover Street she felt the chilly breeze all of a sudden although it was the month of June. She felt relaxed anyway. Then she remembered about her phone being lost and felt helpless about it. She kept walking. The clouds seemed to be an unusal mod that day. It suddenly started pouring. Scarlet immediately rushed to a closed shop which had a roof for her to take shelter. She sat on the bench nearby and unexpectedly enjoyed the sudden rains.
Deep in thoughts she travelled through time and missed the way her father used to take her out in the rains and dance with her like a little kid. Oh how much she missed those moments!
Her auld lang syne(yesteryear) thoughts were disturbed by a ringtone.
