They say sticks and stones may break your bones
That words are fickle and cannot hurt you
But I can break my bones and they'll all heal
But if those who love me tell me I'm nobody
Will I get a cast for my broken self-esteem?

The thing about sticks and stones,
The pain they cause is easily forgotten
The thing about these meaningless words
The hurt they carve is timeless
"You don't deserve anything. You're worthless."

I can dodge you're sticks and stones
But I hear you're words even when I'm not listening
And I tell myself that your words don't  matter
But you matter.
And I'm starting to believe the lies you tell me

So, today I look in the mirror and I hate myself
"Ugly! Bighead!"
Everyday I go to school but I don't try
"Stupid! Idiot!"
Tomorrow, I'll  wake up again and wish I was dead
"Good for nothing! Pointless!"

They say sticks and stones may break your bones
But words cannot hurt you
But a woman of wisdom once said
If you have nothing good to say, say nothing at all
Cause though,  sticks and stones break bones
Words.
Words shatter your heart and soul.
