Hello,
My name is Ellie Graceffa and I have been longing for the new Aj xx9 Jordans, the new Air Jordan 11s, and the new retro 14 Jordans. So I decided to ask my mother if she could buy them for me and she responded with a no, only because she felt I was becoming spoilt and she suggested me to get a job. However, instead of me taking her advice, I decided to ask my dad if he could buy them for me, since I was his little girl, his response was rather funny, he said “nice try young lady, but I overheard your mother and you talking and I think it’s time for you to get a job”.
So I finally accepted that I had to go find a job, but the main question running through my head was where?! So the next day I went job hunting in downtown Philadelphia and I could not find any stores that were hiring. Fortunately, I went to a record store called repo records and I asked if they were hiring and the clerk said “No” we are not hiring we just have a “help wanted” sign for people just to look at and I replied and said “really” sarcastically and the clerk said “No” and handed me a job application. I remember saying to myself, I am not in the mood for any sarcasm today.
As I glanced through the application with frustration, there were some rather dumb questions like “if you see that john looks sad what do you do”? In my head I was thinking “turn back around and mind my business”, but I know the correct answer is “to ask john what is wrong” which was what I answered. When I was done filling out the job application I turned it in and the clerk said “we will speak to you soon miss Ellie”. The next day I got a call back from the record store and they said that I got the job and should start working immediately. I was more concerned about my pay check, so I asked how much will I be getting paid, I was told 10 dollars an hour from 3:00am to 9:00pm and my work schedule was Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays. I told my mother my schedule and she was pleased that I was finally being responsible for getting my very first job without any help. The next day I went to work and it was actually quite fun than I expected it to be. Like for example I listened to various genre of music records from artist like Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand and Cher.
It has been 4 weeks sense my first day working at the record store and it was finally my first pay day. I was so excited and over joyed that I rode my bike straight to nearest foot locker, but you will not believe what I found out! All the shoes I wanted were sold out and had to wait all the way till next year to get the new ones. I was so furious that I thought smoke was going to come out of my ears, but luckily that didn’t happen. However, I didn’t let that ruin my day, so I went to the mall and went clothes shopping and bought lots of clothes. After I was done I took the bus home and to my greatest surprise, my dad got me the shoes I wanted. He said that “He knew that the shoes were about to be sold out and knew how much I wanted. When he told me what he had done I was as happy as I was when I got my first paycheck and I thought to myself I hope to always be my dad’s little girl for forever. It has been a year now and things are looking pretty good. I even been offered an internship working at the record store headquarters but I won’t be paid, but I took the offer anyway. In the end, I learned that not everything is going to be handed to me and most times in life you have to work for everything you get.
